Is Hoban suspended now for Rovers on Monday after his 5th yellow?

You only get away playing boring football IF you are actually successful with it. If you’re not then you’ll be quickly moved on. This season is our chance. I still think we should be 6 or 7 points clear at this stage but let’s see…

We've won 3 top tier titles in 82 years of trying across two different leagues.
In the 27yrs since we last won the league (basically a whole generation ago), EIGHT other teams have lifted the trophy =
- Dundalk : 6 times
- Shamrock Rovers : 6 times.
- Bohemians : 4 times.
- St Pat's Athletic : 3 times.
- Cork City : 2 times.
- Drogheda Utd : 1 time.
- Sligo Rovers : 1 time.
And we've finished runners up 4 times.
So to be brutally honest, at this stage I really don't give a fcuk how we win games - so long as we do.
When we've had the luxury of lifting 2 or more league titles in a row, then I'll get fussy about the manner in which we're doing so. But right now I'm just desperate for us to win the league for a feckin' change - whilst half of us are still alive to actually see it (and I'm not even that old ).

Absolute nail on head.

Did you not predict Derry would finish behind St Pats?

I predicted Rovers to win it and Derry to challenge for 2nd & 3rd. Nothing I’ve seen has changed that. Only surprising thing is how poor Rovers have been.
Can’t help but think that we needed another 6 or 7 points cushion on Rovers to make any sustained challenge.
Time will tell.

We are down to the bare bones for tomorrow night missing:
Dummigan- out for season
Doherty out for season
Kelly- out for season
Fats - likely out for season
Coll - out for season.
Hoban
Connolly- suspended
A draw is no good for us aams I expect Rovers to win remaining 2 games. That Watts goal last Friday was huge for them.
I expect us to line up as:
Maher
Boyce Shane Wisdom Idehen
Whealan Diallo Patching
McMullam Mullan Duffy

Doherty out for season

I'd worry about that defence.

Must have felt like a safe thing to say back in May...mokendismucker wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 7:50 amDid you not predict Derry would finish behind St Pats?
