Derry City v Shelbourne Match Thread
This has the potential to be the most agonising night of the last three years as I may be forced to watch a club who I despise to the core of my being lift the league trophy. I am hoping City have motivation to go out with a win in the league season but again it sounds like the same squad as last week with additional knocks.
Interview with the Manager: https://www.drive105.co.uk/post/derry-c ... l-showdown
This match is live on RTE TV, BBC Radio Foyle, Drive 105 (we also provide Audio Description transmitter radios for those who are visually impaired) and Off The Ball has rediscovered after 20 years that there is a league in Ireland. They too will be covering the game.

Sounds like we are going to play a weakened side.

Re: Derry City v Shelbourne Match Thread
No. I still don't know if Shels will win or not.
What is kind of more frustrating is that the players we see tomorrow may be highly unlikely to play in the cup final because we will be looking to start some of our quarter fit high wage players for the final instead. I think the atmosphere tmrw could be quite bad.
I think Diallo missed the cup final because of a red in the last league game of 2022 so if he is down for the final he might not play tmrw.

Re: Derry City v Shelbourne Match Thread
For tonight's coverage on Drive 105, I spoke with Neal Horgan, an LOI champion with Cork City, about the intense stress, preparation, and determination needed to clinch the league on the final day. We compared his title-winning manager, Damien Richardson, with both Duff and Bradley, discussed his predictions for tonight, and looked back at the thrilling season finales of 2004 and 2005.
Gareth McGuiness interviews both Danny Mullen and Will Patching, with the latter being a profile piece and Packie Cooke spoke to the manager (interview online already).
I'll be live with Eddie and Stephen for the last time this season from 7pm-10pm.
Thank you to everyone who supported us this season. We have had our challenges with technology but we pushed ourselves to improve the content and output this season and I hope it came across that way. I am, however, working away on a few things in the build up and on the day of the final. I'll keep you up to date.

Such an anti-climax. All we can up for is a bit of drama to inject excitement into it.
Shels have all to play for and we have a very unlikely 3rd place to try and rescue. It'll be interesting to see how they play it, if they're not winning by 60 minutes they could nervy and might be caught. I suspect Rovers will score early and win comfortably.

Dee,
Congratulations on another league campaign. If only the on-field product was as good as the one you help provide. Thoroughly enjoyed the longer build up to the games, adds a greater sense of anticipation. Well done to all the Drive 105 MNL team

Pity our manager and players didn't speak to Neal too a few weeks back.

Re: Derry City v Shelbourne Match Thread
This game sums up our season. Play 30 minutes but not 90, loads of possession but in our own half. We lack drive and intensity, passion and flair. Too often we play the ball back or sideways. Diallo is to easy beat so he fouls and gives unnecessary free kicks. Patching is the hide and seek champion, great skill but keeps it under wraps. Defence cannot play long diagonal passes and Mc Mullan for all his great effort cannot cross his legs. This has happened all season with no change so the only answer is, ‘Change the manager, Not nice as he is a nice guy but he has taken us as far as his ability.

Shels won their last 3 games when it mattered. 9pts from 9.
What did we get when it mattered?

I don't understand the criticism of Shels. They led the table from start to finish.Keyser Soze wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 1:40 pm Shels won their last 3 games when it mattered. 9pts from 9.

The played us twice at Brandywell and lifted 4 points from 6.
They finished 8 points ahead of us.
And some jokers are saying they play anti-football.
They play winning football.
