Seriously what about Davy Jeffrey? 33 senior trophies including 9 league titles as a manager not to mention his playing career. Joint 2nd most successful manager with Elisha Scott in the whole history of football in Ireland, north and south. He had virtually no money to spend at Ballymena Utd in comparison to what he had at Linfield and what we've had over the last 2 years yet he took them to 4 league cup finals winning one, to at least one IFA cup final, ran Linfield right up to the wire for the league title and took Ballymena into Europe- all on a shoestring budget which was a fraction of what we had. If he'd been in the dugout last Sunday you can be guaranteed that our players would have been properly motivated and anyone left in Derry would have heard him roaring from the Aviva. This is about football matters and nothing else so please leave out any other nonsense. He's still got the passion and interest for the game and would give our club 101% commitment. His footballing record speaks for itself. It would be very shortsighted not to approach him.

Correction: I've just checked the statistics: Davy has 32 senior trophies as has Elisha Scott. We should approach him about the manager's job.

"Apparently" is the word-equivalent of a patron saint in Derry though Have never known anywhere like it for so much ballax spread as gospel.

That's not to say this isn't true btw. It's just that you can't tell what the truth is half the time here

His budget whilst winning all those trophies far outweighed any other club in the Irish league due to the fact that the NIFL pumped all their money into Linfield and no one else.
Its also a club that David played for so his passion was with them before he took over the helm.

He didnt change as a manager when he went to a club with less money, but he stopped winning trophies.

He wouldnt be a popular choice nowadays as I think hes a bit over the hill and knows nothing about LOI football... I'm not doubting his commitment but I think hes been in Irish league circles too long to suddenly come to the LOI and make an impact...

Forza will probably think this is a bigoted/religious view but its not... DJ was always pleasant in any interaction I had with him when he came to Brandywell with Linfield... He was a legend as a player and won everything with them as manager but I think he wouldnt replicate that at the Brandywell...

He'd done all he could with Ballymena given their very limited resources yet he took them to 6 finals, 2nd in the league and into Europe. He did all that on a fraction of our budget and was a part-time manager as he had a full time job as a Senior Social Worker which he also had when at Linfield. John Caufield has been mentioned because of what he's done with Galway Utd by getting them to 5th in the league!! David wanted a break from management for very good family reasons I won't go into. Hopefully those are now resolved and he's retired from social work so he would be able to apply himself fully to any new management role. If he said publicly that he'd be interested in another challenge there'd be quite a few clubs interested. We should speak to him at the very least.

Think then what he could do with our budget. We've had a huge budget for several years now but have little to show for it apart from the Cup in 2022. He achieved all his successes at Linfield as a part time manager whilst holding down a full time job as a Senior Social Worker. He did the same job at Ballymena on a shoestring as a part time manager and did win a League Cup, reach 5 other finals, run the Blues to the wire for the title. He's now retired from social work. He does know the LOI and keeps a regular eye on Derry and other LOI clubs and players. I know that for a fact. His interest and passion for the game is still there and I think he would relish another challenge. His name should clearly be in the mix for purely footballing reasons. Other reasons for not approaching him shouldn't be given any consideration. Delivering success and trophies to Derry City should be the only consideration.

Aye the report says "it's understood that the Board wanted him to stay". Not really confirmation.

So you believe on "our budget" he would achieve greatness above and beyond what he did at Ballymena? I dont think so.
I have to take your comment about knowing for a fact about the LOI with a pinch of salt. Thats like me saying I know the Irish league because I keep an eye on how Decky is doing at Glentoran or judging results by Linfield on how well David Healy is as a manager. DJ has never managed in the LOI so how could he know it?

I do agree about success and trophies but I dont think big Davy is the man at this time, sorry
