Re: Dundalk vs Derry City Match Thread
It's been said many times before but this time it's for real. Friday is a must win.
Dundalk are relegated. So i'm quietly optimistic.
Maybe Pats, Rovers or Shels will slip up too.

Even a draw puts them down. I guess that would be some consolation. They did raid all our best players for about 5 years running.brandyball wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 11:28 amDon't think they're relegated yet but they will be if we beat them

No doubt the manager will tell us "it's a very tough game against an excellent side ".

The atmosphere around the team feels like it is becoming toxic. I think this one has a draw written all over it. Put us out of our misery and end this pathetic 'title chase'.

At least Fats has come out and said that the fans are correct...
"I completely agree with them [fans]," he said. "I would say people and fans are looking at it and asking 'why are we so negative early doors in games'. Why were we so negative the other night and lethargic against Sligo?

I think most are just sick listening to him now.
You know if we, somehow, win this league the first thing he'll mention is the critics. Completely ignoring the fact they've been in the main correct and we have, in the main, been so poor to watch

The Manager seems a walking contradiction.. First he says the boos are justified and understandable abd then states family members won't go to the games because of the boos.

Yes, but in that interview he said it was the players to blame, and not the manager.marcoloco wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 8:05 pmAt least Fats has come out and said that the fans are correct...

"It's a tough place to go and there's still lots of smashing players, league winners throughout their squad. It'll be a tough game on a tough pitch and it's just not an easy place to go and roll them over."Keyser Soze wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:52 pm No doubt the manager will tell us "it's a very tough game against an excellent side ".
Watch out Fats, Keyser wants a word!

Looks like Patrick needs to have a word with his team mates
PATRICK McEleney says Derry City players must shoulder the blame for the team's slow tempo, negative starts to recent fixtures which have ultimately cost them leadership of the league title race over the past week.
The City skipper shares the frustrations of the Brandywell fans who booed the team off at the half-time interval last Monday night and claimed the lethargic performance in that opening 45 minutes wasn't in the game plan set out by Ruaidhri Higgins and his staff.

Re: Dundalk vs Derry City Match Thread
I'd be concerned about players potentially missing tonight
Doherty
Coll
Hoban
Fats
Connolly
Patching
I wonder will Idehen get a run out tonight. Surely if he is a defender he could do a better job at left back then a midfielder in Davenport
I'd go far
Maher
Boyce Connolly (if fit) Wisdom Idehen
O'Reilly Patching (if fit) or Diallo
Mullen as a 10
McMullen Whelan Duffy
We need a win and I'd start with Whelan & Mullen
Doherty
Coll
Hoban
Fats
Connolly
Patching

I'd like to see Robertson start on the right, but it'll never happen as McMullen appears undroppable.
