Massive weekend coming up. 2 Home games - 6 points a must. We won't have a better chance than this.

Think Pats away will be the trickiest.

The max Rovers can get is 61 points
The max Shels can get before they play us is 60
The max we can get before we play Shels is 62

The minimum we need from the next 4 games is 8 points. If we get 8 points we need to beat Shels on the last day to win the league, if Shels win their next 2 games
If we get 10 points in the 4 games a draw would be enough to win the league again if Shels win their next 2

Rovers games

Drogs away - Rovers don't have a good record there, Drogs still not safe
Dundalk away - Dead and buried but Oriel is a horrible place to go
Waterford home - Waterford don't have much to play for it would take a lot of teams above to lose matches for them to get 4th

Shels games before us

Waterford home - Waterford don't have much to play for it would take a lot of teams above to lose matches for them to get 4th
Drogs home - Drogs should be save by this stage and will be looking to avoid injuries/suspensions ahead of cup final and possible relegation play-off

Our next 4 games

Bohs home - Trying to stay out of relegation trouble
Sligo home - Pushing for 4th
Dundalk away - Dead and buried but Oriel is a horrible place to go
St Pats away - In flying form

I think we need to win the 3 games before we play Pats. We do not want to go to Pats needing a win to take it to the last day

It's there to be won but still an awful lot to do

Good summary.

We would really need to go against our form this season to win 4 of the last 5 matches.

But some belief and actually having a go, we are more than capable of doing it with the squad we have.

Drogheda will have a big role to play here, and this weekend will tell a lot about how the run-in might play out. If Waterford beat Drogheda, Drogs have only a slim chance of catching Bohs, and will probably settle for the relegation playoff (Dundalk are done, as you said) so have no reason to risk anything against Rovers and Shels. Ideally, Drogs beat Waterford, we beat Bohs, bringing Drogs closer to Bohs. Drogs will keep fighting against Rovers and Shels, as you'd expect them to beat Dundalk on the last day, potentially making them safe. Big weekend coming up.

Since winning four games in a row in the league in June, we haven't won any league games back to back (we had two back to back league wins in April and May).

If I had to guess, I would say we will take 7 points from next 3 games, which I think would need us getting a result of some sort at Pats.

I think the penny is dropping for a lot of people now...

League should already be in the bag long before now and not us having to go and get 4 or 5 wins against the top sides in the country.

Ah I disagree, despite the feelgood of the cup, no one is under any illusions about the league and how Higgins & his team have a made a monumental sh1te of attempting to win it!

I believe it's in our hands if we play to our strengths but we've been so inconsistent I can't feel confident.
We are so close and if a few other results go our way we could do it. I think Rovers with the big squad and confidence throughout could do it again.
We need everyone to play their best over 4/5 :games and hope for a 'rub of the green'.
A BIG ask.

Our next 3 games

Sligo home - Pushing for 4th
Dundalk away - Dead and buried but Oriel is a horrible place to go
St Pats away - In flying form

We now need at least a point against Pats and we need to win tonight and against Dundalk

If we beat Sligo and Dundalk and lose to Pats to can only finish on 60 points by beating Shels, if Rovers win their 3 games they finish on 61. A point against Pats and we could win the league on goal difference. But we need to hope that Rovers don't hammer one of Drogs, Dundalk or Waterford

To be honest the way this season has gone its not a given that Shels will win their next 2 or Rovers will win their next 3!!

It's there to be won but still an awful awful lot to do

Another scenario. What if we don't make it to the final day.

Shels are coming to the Brandywell needing a win to clinch the title.

Would you rather Rovers win it securing 5 in a row or Shels (the underdog) win it?

(Only applicable if we crash and burn and fall out of the running)
