I wouldn't be surprised if we failed to take 9 points from those games and yet still had a chance of winning it on last day.

Our performances and results this season suggest that we will fail to pick up those 9 points. Winning 3 on the bounce is very difficult to imagine with this team.

Had Rovers held on to win against us, I think the title was theirs.
You can see why they were so annoyed about losing 2 pts to such a shocking bit of cheating.

This chat about cheating is an interesting one. Over the season teams cheat is all sorts of ways, players hitting the deck holding their face to get a player sent off, diving, goalkeepers falling over in the box under a bit of pressure to get a free kick. It happens in al levels of football. I have no sympathy for Rovers, I remember a game in Tallaght where they took a throw in 30 yards from where they should and Gaffney scored an equaliser against us. If the peno had been given against us we would have been pissed off but what can we do about it, ref gave it. Also, remember last season away to Sligo near the end of the season when the defender climbed on Cian Kavanagh's back in the box and there was no peno given. I'm sure that was at 0-0, we lost the game 1 nil and had Boyce sent off. Swings and roundabouts lads.......

Most players cheat to gain over another. Can’t think of a game I’ve seen that there was one or a number of players or coaches cheating. It’s the worst part of the game, not the playing of poor football. Even children are at it, taken probably from watching Champion league matches, World Cup games, even women’s games even local football. This is mainly for monitory gain with paid players.
Saw an under 11 game were a lad threw himself down in the box and before the ref could adjudicate on the moment, the boy’s mother roared at him to get up, adding “he never touched you”. Rugby isn’t totally innocent but miles more honourable than football.

60 points could see this title won. If that's the case, then we need to pick up 10 points from 5 remaining games - Bohs(h) Sligo(h) Dundalk(a) St Pats(a) Shelbourne(h). It's certainly possible that we can do that. Those 10 points almost certainly need to include beating Shels in the last game, unless they completely tank. Anything above 10 points gives us a great chance imo.

If Shels lose today and we beat them in the final game, they can only pick up 6 points, giving them 60 total but behind us on goal difference. If Shels pick up a point today then I think it gives them the advantage.

If Rovers win, they'd go to 52 points with 3 games to play - Drogheda(a) Dundalk(a) Waterford(h). A very favourable run in but it would require them to win 4 in a row. 4 wins would take them to 61 points total. They currently have a lower GD than us (10 v 17). That would require us to get to at least 61 points in order to win the league.

Personally, I'm leaning towards wanting a Rovers win and asking them to reel off 4 wins in a row.

First priority has to be a top 3 finish. Drogs in the cup final still leaves the possibility that 4th spot gets nothing.

One of those wins has to be against Shels unless the drop points before we meet them
