Re: Sligo Rovers vs Derry City
I know it is a huge "If" considering our history at the ground but I will say it, IF we get a win at the Showgrounds I think it will be amongst the best results we are capable of getting this season. Victories there are sparse for us, for whatever reason we struggle to get more than a draw and the last few games there could cure insomnia. We are on a good run of late and it would be phenomenal to go into European competition with continued positive momentum.

We always get a hard game down in Sligo so anything is a bonus. But with Shels playing Drogheda I think that we need a win as we can't afford to fall further behind. Head says a draw and heart says a win.

This team man, never fails to disappoint. Sligo were there for the taking. We stopped playing after we scored. Another penalty by diallo and dummigan disaster at right back.
Shane mceleney is a finn harps player at best. No mental strength in this team.

No complaints.
Didn’t turn up in the 2nd half and never really put them under any sustained pressure. Scrappy game and too many hopeful balls up to McMullan.
Sligo’s 2nd goal was very well taken but comical defending on our part.
Shels draw keeps them close enough.

No complaints and then you complain .Shels had 2 sent off who will miss their game against us in August. Diallo needs dropping hopefully Davenport can do well for us. Think we still need strengthening especialling with Shels signing a few.marcoloco wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 9:50 pm No complaints.

No complaints with the scoreline.
Looked like we were playing for a draw most of that 2nd half and got caught by a sucker punch.
A draw would have been fair result but poor defending cost us a point.
Shels could move 6 clear if they win a game in hand. We need to be careful…

Not much change
I'd love us to win the league obviously
And hope I'm proved wrong
But don't think this side is good enough
Choice of three ch all three on the iffy side
As are the FB
Midfield is a bit of a disaster area
This side is past it's peak and are ageing together

Iffy - I like that. Clumsy is another good one.
But the lad ran from the half way line… with our midfield awol and the defence in a state of shock. But the lad stayed on his feet and finished it off brilliantly. So fair play to him.
Off on our holidays now for a few weeks before we go again.

Re: Sligo Rovers vs Derry City
First half we played some nice football but the quality of the final ball whether it was a cross of a pass through was terrible. Dummigan probably had his worst game in a Derry shirt and missed an easy challenge in the build up to the Diallo penalty. It’s rare for him so can be forgiven. Overall though we should have won, Sligo we’re not great, a hard working organised team but we’re open when we moved the ball. We were not clinical enough and again did not play for 90 mins.

Re: Sligo Rovers vs Derry City
Only caught second half. Disappointed to hear the post game comments about "control" again. I think for a game like Sligo away, a change in approach is necessary. However, I don't think the manager will countenance that. Missed opportunity to close gap on Shels. With so few games left, those opportunities cannot stay missed.
