Evening all,
Just to let you know that RTÉ have island of Ireland rights only, so it won't be available on the player internationally unless you have a VPN or a fire stick with you.
LOITV may be available outside of Ireland and Kazakhstan though but I'm not sure

didn’t take our chances and bit of inexperience near the end cost us dearly.
No complaints. Keepers should not be hitting penalties.

Fair play to all the fans that made the journey. Thought tobol were poor and we could have won it in normal time. Shows you how important diallo, patching and o Reilly are. Once the subs were made we were poor. Unlucky lads

Fans and players were brilliant.
And to be fair we didn’t get near any of their pens. Good luck to them.
St Pats will be loving that tonight.

It was there to be won but ah well hopefully drives the players on to win the league.
Doherty missed a few penalties this season and I actually said to the family on holiday he'll miss. Fancied Maher to score though but a lot of messing about with the ref prior to it. Shit happens, we learn we need to be clinical in Europe and move on.
Overall did well in Europe this season just a pity we didn't get to the play off

You only normally see keepers taking them in sudden death. Did Ben miss the last one he took @ The Brandy? Having said that if we had a Centre forward we would've gone through.

You wouldn’t put an outfield player in goal. He scuffed it and it was an easy save to be fair. Eaten up by the pressure. Lesson learned hopefully. Their keeper looked delighted.

We were great tonight and had several chances to win it. The better team lost tonight. I've been saying it for a year "we need a striker". I refuse to criticise anyone as they did brilliantly to get this far. They left everything on the pitch over the 6 matches.

The manager made some big calls with his subs and choice of penalty takers that probably had an influence on the outcome. People says it’s a lottery but the best team won the shootout. They looked more composed and hit better penalties. I think that our 96min miss was the best chance of the game. Fine margins.

Better team over the 90mins but we couldn't put our chances away. That opportunity in 'injury time' for Kavanagh was finished like a 14 year old playing D&D.
Small margins. Like many fans....I'm proper pissed off!

Entire team did well tonight, and yes we should have won it in normal time.
In extra time we tired badly. Pens are just a lottery, they can go either way.
Some tired bodies there now, quite a few will likely miss the cup game now on Sunday

Ben has now missed his last 3 for us, converting only one.brandyball wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 10:55 pmYou only normally see keepers taking them in sudden death. Did Ben miss the last one he took @ The Brandy? Having said that if we had a Centre forward we would've gone through.

Brilliant effort but when they look back they might realise they should have won. Hopefully that will spur them on to be more ruthless.
Not sure if it was tiredness but second half not as good as first half, didn't seem to go at them as much. McEleney way off it when he came on. Thought Diallo and O'Reilly were great.

Re: Derry City v Tobol QR3 2nd Leg Match Thread
Ultimately, it was our lack of a goal from open play over 2 games cost us the result. They were superior with the pens and won it so no complaints from me. Their keeper was much taller than Maher so probably had a edge when it came to the 1 v 1s. Don't agree that its a lottery. It isn't. Often its the losing side that come out with that line.TenaciousDee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:45 amBen has now missed his last 3 for us, converting only one.brandyball wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 10:55 pmYou only normally see keepers taking them in sudden death. Word for Mullan. I've not seem too much from him to get excited about since his arrival but his penalty was top drawer. So fair play to the lad. Not easy to come on late and look so confident and composed.
