What about the "The Derry City Council Stand" as the Strabane contingent of the council wouldn't want to be associated with a Europa prelimary ground which shows no forethought or support in ambition for the town, only a parochial attitude which is a long way from 2013 year of culture intent.TenaciousDee wrote:I pitched it before and I will pitch it againstevebradley wrote:But it's not Derry City's stadium ! Any naming rights income from it would therefore go to the owner (i.e. the council), not the club.thecitizen wrote:Simply name it after a sponsor, the money is much needed!!
And we'd have to put up with whatever name it was e.g. The Club Orange Stadium, commonly known as 'The Orange Stadium'

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
New stand will be adequate for our needs and looks great. Elevator shaft being fitted at moment. Pre-cast concrete 'steps/floor' on trailer ready for fitting. Whole centre pitch area now cleared and level which I presume means founds etc. for pitch next step. Should all be ready in good time. I expect new stand will fill quite quickly.
I believe the old stand has new wiring, lighting, P.A. but not confirmed.
Where can one view original plans?

I've been attending since we returned to senior football and never once experienced a stonethrower. I know they have been in existence. I read the papers. But I've been lucky/fortunate??? up to now.
Some people are less fortunate than others.
Also, I know the new development isn't what we ideally would have hoped for but I for one will appreciate the improvements and make the most of it.

Atmosphere is created by the supporters and unlike the team we don't make the effort, even the library clap has disappeared. A go at the Icelandic applause, or was it Motherwell, could be a starter but our shyness prevents us trying.adydcfc wrote:Yeah but lacks atmosphere!Andy Bernard wrote:Nice not having to deal with stone throwers outside the ground all the sameadydcfc wrote:Have been driving past regularly and it' starting to take shape. Was up there having a duke today, and I don't think the track protrudes into the stadium.peterc wrote:The only ground ever to have a dog track( for what real purpose who knows) protruding into it!
They've now built a wall around the dog track, which doesn't stick out beyond the level of the Southend Stand. I think the bit that looked like it would was just where the soil had been raked around outside where the greyhound wall now is.
I hope that's the case anyway !

Unless the toilets shown in the planning drawings as being under the unconstructed terracing either side of stand are being moved to be under it now, then it will not be adequate for the most basic of needs. Can someone from the club allay these concerns?kitwe wrote:New stand will be adequate for our needs and looks great.

I tend to agree. It'll be very similar to Oriel Park and that just looks wrong having a lump of a shed at the halfway line instead of a full stand.Andy Bernard wrote:No it won't. It's an insult
Still though, it'll be a lot better than what we had!

Yes it's a more modern shed the people of derry are paying for.PauliAlonso wrote:I tend to agree. It'll be very similar to Oriel Park and that just looks wrong having a lump of a shed at the halfway line instead of a full stand.Andy Bernard wrote:No it won't. It's an insult
