100%. Agree with the 3g pitch idea being the worst poss idea. We all saw to night the state of the" champions" Pitch. Awful drab dreadful. But will anyone ever listen to us the fans ????

Eugenio, it's not a case of listening to Derry City fans, it's a case of listening to Derry & Strabane ratepayers.

Ratepayers shouldn't have to pay for an expensive pitch which will have to be replaced in the not too distant future at ratepayers' expense.

I read the Sinn Féin pamphlet posted through the door recently. It claims they got the Brandywell stadium redevelopment through and there's a picture if them all standing in the cemetery overlooking the Brandywell.

In addition to this not being true, it's an affront to the intelligence of the electorate in Derry, it's morally reprehensible to make a spurious claim when the truth is that the Sinn Féin MLA in charge of the money for redevelopment of stadiums gave it first to Ravenhill, then Windsor, and is still trying to force a stadium redevelopment down the throats of thousands of residents in the Casement area who don't want that stadium redeveloped.

When Sinn Féin come to your door, remind them that as well as having to watch the Sinn Féin Deputy First Minister announce lots of jobs in Belfast rather than in his home city, the city of Derry has been treated as second-class by Sinn Féin in their distribution of funds for stadium redevelopment.

Given the amount of rain on Friday, the pitch at the Brandy well looked to be in great condition on Friday night and it held up perfectly for the 90 minutes.

Surely a plastic pitch should not be a priority in the redevelopment of the stadium.

An artificial surface will be about the council getting maximum usage and revenue out of its investment though. You can't do that with a grass pitch.

The surface won't be tailor made to suit Derry City's needs as we're merely tenants (like an increasing number of new people are likely to be).

Pitch is a huge priority it needs levelled out and moved towords the southend stand but i would rather a grass pitch was layed in its place a modern hardwearing hybrid grass pitch would be a far better long term option than 4g artificial thats planned and with proper council maintenance program would last longer than the 4g will.

Has there ever been as comparison done between the cost of laying a plastic pitch and maintains a grass pitch in Ireland? Is it possible to find out how much DCC spent on maintaining the Brandywell pitch in the past 10 years?

Do we know how long it will be before the plastic pitch has to be re-laid?

If it was a choice between the 2 i would build the stand for defs, the pitch is slopy and terrible at the start of every season but from may onwords its perfect as you say, but in an ideal world you would build the stand and a new level grass pitch.

That means dundalk on july 1st will be our last game in the brandywell with longford the first visitors to maginn park on july 15th. So a total of 7 league games plus league cup semi final and possible fai cup games if we win tonight will be played in buncrana.

Glentoran are set to construct a new £9.2m 8,000 capacity, 6,000-seater stadium on the site of their existing Oval grounds in East Belfast.

At the club's Annual General Meeting on Monday night, supporters approved a board recommendation to demolish and redevelop the Oval.

Funding will come from the Glens' share of the NI Executive's £110m sports grounds improvement programme.

Alternative sites at Sydenham and Titanic Quarter had been considered.

The club have settled on the complete reconstruction of their present site, with additional money being raised from the sale of surplus land for social housing.

New 3G pitches and training and community facilities will be created at the adjacent King George V playing fields as part of a partnership with Belfast City Council and Belfast Metropolitan College
