Good to see Harkin back too - but don’t think he will play much football.

Higgins stated he was fit at the end of last season and was going to put him on the bench v Pats in the last home game - but said there was no point taking the risk.

So just a bit confused that 4 months later he has not played in any pre-season games - surely these would have been better games to ease him in, as opposed to competitive league games. I am just unsure how we can ease him back in and get him the games he needs. Surely the 7 pre-season games was the time to do it ?

Read between the lines, its obvious hes picked up another injury or niggle over preseason. It wouldn't be uncommon for a player coming back from a long spell out to do so.

Well hopefully for Jackie if there is another tweak or injury, its in a different part and not in his knee.

The lad deserves a bit of luck. Let's hope he can be back playing again soon.

I really feel for him, but cannot see him playing much - he really needed to play now, he will not be risked away to Sligo, or away to Bohs or away to Rovers - which is our first 3 away games - so I fear he will now sit on the bench week after week, and without a League Cup or UCD - I am struggling to see games where we can him back in and involved.

Ordinarily I would agree but we seem to have a habit of playing players when not ready eg Connolly and McEleney last year (the latter of whose injury we were told last year was being 'managed').

We also left Whelan on the pitch against Rovers after he twisted his knee and went down in a heap.

My worry is that he will be brought in cold to a game and gets injured again. I really hope that doesn't happen.
