Dundalk v Derry City Match Thread

Post by TenaciousDee »

Game two of three on the road for City after last Friday's point at Dalymount. We haven't the best record away to Oriel Park and last time round personal errors played a part in us not getting what we fully deserved. Fingers crossed we can go a step better and collect all three points.

Today an email was released stating that on Friday night Derry will be missing Diallo due to suspension.

Post all other team news, predictions and reactions here, plus ticket updates. If you can't travel to the game it will be live on LOITV, BBC Radio Foyle and Drive 105.

A bit like last weeks game, 3pts would be nice.

Can we afford NOT to win this?

It feels like we need to take 9 points from 9 over the next 3 games if we want to have a realistic chance at the league.

Dundalk remain without Keith Ward and John Mountney through injury. Ryan O’Kane is set to return while Andy Boyle is a doubt. Ronan Boyce is a doubt for us too.

Anyone talking about winning the league… I’ll have what you’re smoking. We’ve a battle on our hands for 2nd and top 4 is still all to play for. A 2nd or 3rd place finish plus our European adventure would be a respectable season.

Talking about being in with a chance. However, I do feel that it is a small chance and highly unlikely.

I am confident we'll finish in the top 3 and feel its more likely it'll be 2nd place. I might have different thoughts if Bohs beat Shams and we lose/draw

Todd makes his debut Fats starts and Duffy on bench. Still no starting place for our centre forwards McGonigle and Cian Kavanagh.

Mullen is a 'centre forward'

I know just pointing out the 2 named centre forwards were on bench again.

Credit to Maher tonight, made plenty of saves. A concern that he was so busy but I suspect that's, in part, a result of not having Diallo or Dummigan in midfield to shield the defence.

UCD to come on Wednesday. With Pats losing tonight, we'll go 3 points clear in 2nd, 4 points behind Shams. All eyes on Fri 15th!

Thought we were poor for first 43 minutes of the game. The next time some team offers money for Jamie we should take hand and all off them. Maher M.O.M.

A couple of wee points A few seasons ago Dundalk were in Europe lots of games etc Now they look dispirited tired Could we go that route too I hope not .
The number of changes (and I make no apology for Dialo the muppet who missed a Cup Final and big vital games )has disrupted our flow v badly we looked v disorganised to night but the mighty Shane and Maher of course kept up in there Positional switches seemed to hurt us
Then that pen Daiallo one week Mc Gonigle the next tho this time it didn’t hurt us But dear God what does he contribute …. No heart certainly . Not a Derry player at all. But 3 points platers giving their all despite injury , tiredness etc taking its toll but the Derry heart is there …..so v v proud of this bunch . One of the Euro drawbacks is the travel and the injury and fatigue the accumulation of important domestic games But acCup Final on Friday 15 th anyhow now no 20 000 but we must make the racket of 20000
