Shamrock Rovers v Derry City Match Thread
Please note that kick off tomorrow is at 8pm..
If I remember rightly Ben Doherty got booked on Friday night, meaning it is his 5th yellow that will result in a suspension. Not sure if it means he misses tomorrow or Friday. Duffy will still be a doubt but I can't imagine many changes from Friday.
Match will be live on LOITV, BBC Radio Foyle and Drive 105.

Get the feeling that Rovers will completely run this game tonight. They played us off the park in the previous fixture in Tallaght but we came out on top in a smash and grab. That's the best we can hope for tonight, however missing key players we'd be lucky to get out of there with a draw.
Rovers to stretch their lead with a comfortable victory I think

If there aren't many changes from the team that started on Friday, then I fear we'll be played off the park tonight.TenaciousDee wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 2:36 pm Please note that kick off tomorrow is at 8pm..

I agree with you Steve. We were brutal the other night and Rovers will take full advantage if we play similar tonight. Can't see anything but a rovers win- hope I am wrong.stevebradley wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 2:44 pmIf there aren't many changes from the team that started on Friday, then I fear we'll be played off the park tonight.TenaciousDee wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 2:36 pm Please note that kick off tomorrow is at 8pm..

I anticipate that the squad will be similar because we are low in numbers. Duffy could feature but other than that the probability of Fats and Dummigan featuring seem low. Connolly is a doubt for tonight and thankfully Doherty isn't suspended so he may start.

They outplayed us at Tallaght, and it was men against boys when they won at the Brandywell.
And we are playing rubbish , even when we win.
A point would be a massive result for us, but also can't see it.

Shocking Refereeing again. Awful decision to book Graydon. The referees assesors must watch different games every week.

Half time, 1 down.
Really poor goal to concede. Gaffney ran a long way, and Maher was awful for it.

A spirited performance, just lacking quality at the top end

Really poor again, looked hopeless up front and created nothing against a rovers team who were terrible tbh.
Looking at the bench tonight knew we had no hope of changing the game. I know mceleney and Duffy are two great players but they miss about 2/3 of the season with injuries.
Seven points behind a poor and inconsistent rovers is disappointing for all the money we've spent.

Though we played decent enough tonight lacking up front no one to score,Gaffneys shot was timid enough ,thought Matter should have done better.

Mahers position was shocking for the goal gaffney was making his was along our 18 yard box,Brian was more or less on his left post giving gaffney the whole right hand side to put the ball in the net, he was never getting back across for it.

7 points behind a team who haven't got out of 3rd gear this season is criminal, considering our budget.
Not to mention how utterly abject we are in a crucial part of any football match: scoring goals.

I think people are underestimating how good Rovers have been and the gap between the two sides... We have a way to go yet to really compete
