2023 Squad
Well, another season over. Absolutely fantastic to finish it with a cup run, will be interesting to see who stays, who moves on and who we bring in?
I can see Matty Smith and Declan Glass moving on, but aside from them, we should keep most of the squad from 2022 season.

Re: 2023 Squad
If Derry want to get to Rovers level and beyond we need to be ruthless and can't be sentimental with recruitment. Need to up the quality of the squad and can't remain static . Glass will be away no doubt. If Smith goes we'll need to pay him off as he's still in contract- so any pay offs will eat into the budget.
From the out of contract players- Lafferty and McEneff I think will be gone, Coll I'd keep and although I like Atkintunde the question has to be asked can we get better quality - the answer is probably yes. Need a striker that has the knack of being in the right place at the right time- a poacher. We'll need a left back back as well as I like McJannett more as a centre half

Damien Duff looking to sign Smith on a permanent basis as he believes he can be as important to Shels as Duffy or McEleney is for City.

Re: 2023 Squad
A day after the cup final Adam, you are already looking at the exit door to see who comes out. Can we not just let the great feeling of Sunday simmer until the management and team return from Spain on Friday before playing fantasy Sky Transfer Talk?

Re: 2023 Squad
Big Phil was on Radio Foyle on Monday morning saying next season the league title is the target which would lead you to think more money will be spent.
I don't think there will be too many changes but we still need a striker with that killer instinct IMO. Too many games we dominated this season without taking our chances and putting teams away.
I'll let RH and his team make those decisions!!

I like Coll. I don't think Higgins does.

The fact he plays McJannet out of position would point to that.

For a very successful businessman he isn't half naive with his bold statements about putting money down.beanomoracova wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 12:18 pm Big Phil was on Radio Foyle on Monday morning saying next season the league title is the target which would lead you to think more money will be spent.

Can you imagine Derry ringing up a player, agent or club about getting a transfer done?! €€€€

Rovers after Maher apparantly - they'd need to spend a good chunk of that European money. Great keeper hopefully he stays.

Re: 2023 Squad
Imagine an agent or a player so f**king thick that they didn't know we have a billionaire owner. The statement makes zero difference.
But you're right, he is a brilliant businessman.

Re: 2023 Squad
We've got a good solid squad with a lot of players signed up for next season. Haven't heard any rumours bar keena from Sligo. Think we're about two or three good players from challenging rovers next year.
Ps mark Connollys been the signing of the season. What a player.

Re: 2023 Squad
There's three options available to us/him:
1)Keep him and sign him up to a new long term contract
2)Keep him another season and lose him for free
3) Sell him for profit
The best option for us might not be the best option for him
