Player of the Season/Young Player of the season

Coming to that time of the year again were we can discuss who we all personally think has been the player of the season.

For me I would have to say Cameron Dummigan - He has been an absolute revelation in midfield when potentially was signed as a right back. his versatility has been phenomenal and an absolute starter every time if fit. Seems to have a keen eye for nipping in and breaking up attacks from the opposition. The only other players id have considered for this would have been Mark Connolly who has been fantastic since arriving but only came in half way through the season and Brian Maher who is a fantastic goalkeeper.

Young player of the year is fairly straight forward for me - Brain Maher if we manage to hold on to him for another year I would be absolutely delighted. Easily our best passer of a ball and more than likely could play outfield. Fantastic all round keeper.

Whats everyone else thinking?

Both players have been fantastic.

Yep have to agree- Dummigan easily POTY but Connolly would have been pushing him if he'd been here the full season. Maher is an easy choice for young POTY. Don't think there'll be too many disagreeing.

My thoughts exactly. I can see why Devine tried twice to get Dummigan. We have been begging for a midfielder of his elk since Molloy left the club. Connolly has been brilliant for both us and Dundalk and should be in the running for player of the year in the league, but no doubt he will be overlooked for Gaffney or Lyons at Rovers.

Well to be fair, I don't think too many LOI fans would argue if Gaffney gets it. He's had a great season.

If the post is about Derry City players of the year, why would we discuss players of other clubs?

I mentioned a Derry player should be in the running for the league's player of the year but will most likely lose out to Lyons or Gaffney, that is why we are discussing other players from other teams.

He doesn't (Connolly) deserve the club's player over Dummigan having only played the full season but his performances at both Derry and Dundalk should have him in the LOI POTY Conversation
