Absolute sickner this was. Would be massive if we can go into our game against them with a 3 point gap [or less]brandyball wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 6:57 pm Rovers scored in 6th minute of injury time after ref added on 4.

Qualified euro football next season.
But really need to keep going and try to secure 2nd spot, as it'll bring in more money and give us a safety net of a defeat taking us into Conference League qualifying.

The thought of going to Tallaght now on Sunday isn't overly appealing but yet, we'll still be there!

Sorry but that not correct. 1st into Champions League - 2nd, 3rd and Cup Winners into COnference League. Only advantage to any side is Cup Winners go to 2nd round via a bye. Happened to Pats last season. Seems weird as Shels could get byed if the unthinkable for us happens ahead of ourselves and Dundalk or Pats.Keyser Soze wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 5:40 pm Qualified euro football next season.

St Pats got the bye due to Russian clubs being suspended from European competition. I don't believe that is guaranteed an Irish team will receive a bye next season, so we may well enter the first stage of the Europa Conference League.refjohn wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 2:40 pmSorry but that not correct. 1st into Champions League - 2nd, 3rd and Cup Winners into COnference League. Now that last game of season no longer needs to be played at same time as Rovers, can it be moved back to Friday? Also gives an extra day or two rest for final.

Must be something to do with the level the LOI is at?
So it's only the champions who have the benefit of falling back into the lower competition if they are beat?

It's to do with League of Ireland's UEFA coefficent. It's not highly enough ranked to get a Europa League spot. That can be improved as teams perform better.Keyser Soze wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:02 pm Didn't know that, thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, it's only the champions and they get two chances! CL > EL > ECL. That's why winning the league is so valuable, you're guaranteed 6 European games and all that comes with it.

If Derry lose on Sunday against Rovers the Dundalk game takes on a whole new significance.
