Forgive me for sharing the below on this page, but it's relevant to Derry City FC.
Tranlink are running a 'Special' train service to take Derry GAA supporters to this Saturday's All-Ireand semi-final in Dublin. In a farcical mopve, they've made the train so that it only starts and ends in Belfast, and goes nowhere near Co.Derry.
Into The West has been running a campaign and petition on this, which has really caught a wind on social media and in the normal media (e..g it'll be on the UTV Live News at 6pm this evening). Everyone gets that this situation is just absurd - especially as Translink are only running one special bus from the city to the game, which sold out in a heart-beat. 80 seats for a city of 105,000 people !
This is an important campaign for Into The West as it's about laying down a marker for the future treatment of rail from Derry. Importantly - if this petition and campaign gets a lot of support, it'll increase our chances of getting a Special train put on from Derry to Dublin should we reach an FAI Cup Final again (which you'd hope is only a matter of time !). Hence there is self-interest in Candystripes fans seeing this campaign succeed.
So please sign and share the petiiton widely. Our mesage is clear = if it's for Derry it should leave from Derry !

Thanks.
