I'd guess not, but I'd much rather have a player like Smith who knows the league and more importantly has scored a lot of goals in recent seasons.

Picking off the best emerging talent for next to nothing. In the last week alone 2 Irish youngsters from Cork City and Pats (age 16, and 18) have moved to Italy to AC Milan and Udinese which is great to see. Clubs that have contracts in place are protected. Those that don't get buttons in compensation.

Absolutely. All comes down to professionalism and money. Those with the means will be in the best place to attract young talent and move then on at the the right time and for the right compensation. Shamrock Rovers have nailed it. Takes money and planning but the rewards for players and clubs are there for the taking.
