Is anyone even surprised. We all knew it wasn't going to start.
I've give up caring now about this. Too many lies and false dawns.

We were told that it will start now in June...
But as said before and no doubt will be said again
"I'll believe it when the diggers move in"
or
"I'll believe it when I'm sitting in it"...

June what? 2016, 2017, 2018, 2050?
At this rate I'm starting to think I won't live to see Derry City play in a new stadium.

Does that mean the new building work will happen at the same time, or will that just leave us with less storage space and more terracing afterwards ?TenaciousDee wrote:Was told yesterday it will now be the end of June (this year KS ) the knocking down of the Glentoran will happen.Again, I will believe it when I see it.

There will be a grand declaration that stage 1 of the redevelopment has been completed when the bulldozers have done their work and that stage 2 will commence in a few years time.stevebradley wrote:Does that mean the new building work will happen at the same time, or will that just leave us with less storage space and more terracing afterwards ?TenaciousDee wrote:Was told yesterday it will now be the end of June (this year KS ) the knocking down of the Glentoran will happen.Again, I will believe it when I see it.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
sounds to me that the glentoran has 9 lives as its demise has been predicted so many times over the years but it still stands definately as a symbol of everything that is wrong with our present 1930's stadium. And it will probably still be standing this time next year.TenaciousDee wrote:Was told yesterday it will now be the end of June (this year KS ) the knocking down of the Glentoran will happen.Again, I will believe it when I see it.

As said, I can see the glentoran stand being knocked down next month, giving everyone the impression it's all systems go, but that will be the only thing done.

You would probably be best putting this in a separate thread to ensure everyone sees it.scoops wrote:vote here to get Derry €5000 for stadium improvements or pitch development

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
I'm sure you wont be surprised to hear that the tendering process to redevelop the brandywell are nowhere near complete.
So much for breaking ground, ahem, this year at all.

Listening to Radio Foyle on the way home last night and they had Liam Coyle Richie,Jobby and Mick McBride on talking about their memories of the Glentoran Stand which apparently is to be demolished in the next 2 weeks.
I have not heard of any planning permission being awarded for the b'well development it rests with the new council. nor have I heard of any contract being awarded. Anybody hear any positive news in relation to this never ending story.
