Within the league, the only candidate I would think of that would be tempted and who has some track record would be Kevin Doherty.
Ex player James Keddy could be an option at some point too but I can't say I know much about Wexford.
I think Reynolds will be gone from Bohs soon and while I like Long, I'm not sure he'd relocate. Both might not be realistic.
I'd like to see McLaughlin at some point as well.
As Marty says though, people like Paul Cook were unknowns before they arrived here too. Managers are always a bit of a gamble really.

Sometimes the answer is not always within Ireland North or South. When Shamrock Rovers appointed Michael O'Neill he was managing Brechin City in Scotland's 3rd tier & three months prior to being appointed Sligo Rovers manager Paul Cook was sacked by Southport who were in the Conference League (England's 5th tier). If the club do decide to part way with Higgins at the end of the season then they should broaden their search outside Ireland & see what's out there.
