Is it not time for the board to look at a permanent move away due to the council stringing us along and for Phillip to stop the mantra that Brandywell is the only show on town. Maybe dcfc should approach fai for funding for an upgrade of eg Maginn pk and play our games there otherwise we are going to hear Phillip spouting the same crap as he has done since he became chairman

Where can we move to maginn park or stute? Council won't look at the complex so where else is there? Unfortunately the brandywell is the only show on town and it's never gonna happen

Another meeting with that muppet Kelpie only to be told what we've been hearing for years!
Why aren't the Bored demanding to meet him?
the political groupings on the council have proven they're inept. Pointless meeting.

The Council are the servants of the people of Derry and Strabane.

If enough sustained pressure is applied -and by the right people (i.e. essential it includes the club) - there is no reason why the issue couldn't be forced. The real barrier on this, in my view, is the club just meekly accepting their Brandywell fate. Crumbs from the table.

The Council needs to be completely, utterly and PUBLICLY shamed on a grand scale over this issue.

Just looking at the program of works that was released earlier in the year constructing the 3g pitch alone is estimated at 5 months so if work even started in january then it wont be ready for play until june, so tight timeline if european game is going to be played there.

I brought this up on the radio on Friday and would like clarification if any of you can offer it.

If the Brandywell is not fit for purpose beyond round two and we qualify to a later stage, as an FAI team will this mean we will have to compete in another ground of a club governed by the association, i.e. Tallaght or Sligo? How many rounds could the Sligo Showgrounds even host?

Would we be able to use an IFA ground if it came down to it? I remember Shels had to play Rangers in Tranmere about 20 years ago in Europe due to safety concerns but can clubs under FAI Regulation opt to play in another FA's ground if the stadium is fit for purpose i.e. Windsor Park?

I'm pretty sure you can use a ground outside your jurisdiction. It's happened before a number of times at international and club level - not just re Irish clubs, but also Israeli, Ukranian etc.

I'm not sure if there needs to a strong reason for it though - e.g. a war or safety issue. But given that there are unlikely to be grounds in places like Gibraltor and the Faroe Islands up to the latter stages of European competition, I doubt UEFA would be so mean as to stop them playing in a different jurisdiction if they got that far.

You can only use a ground outside your jurisdiction for safety reasons or if no other grounds within the association territory meets the Stadium criteria. Ludogorets have to play their games in Sofia, despite Razgrad being a lot closer to Bucharest.

The Faroes have a stadium that would be better than the Brandywell, and Gibraltar are planning this http://europapointstadium.com/

Thanks for clarifying.

Am I right in thinking the only Category 4 football stadiums (8,500+ seats) in the Republic would be in Dublin (Aviva, Tallaght), and possibly also Turners Cross in Cork ?

Turners Cross is only Cat 3 (stuff like press facilities, parking, vip area go against the cross), as is Tallaght, will soon be Cat 4 though.

Sure Linfield played Dundalk in HOLLAND in the 70s in the proper old European Cup for those of us codgers who remember.

But that was on safety grounds.

Just like Shels played Rangers in Tranmere in 1998 (and nearly beat them !).

Is the reason we need a new ground not safety son? Uefa won't let us play because it's not safe

Its nothing to do with safety its stupid eufa requirements like dressing room size, vip parking, hospitality areas, press box size and it goes on and on that determines what category your stadium is rated 4 being the highest, i would say we just about meet category 1. Heres a link to the different categories https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_stadium_categories
