We paid fees for both Mark Connolly and Pat Hoban.

I'd say Winchester and Thomas will be announced as well today. The post from the club said 'all set up in Owenbeg for some handshakes and signings'

There are photos on the Journal website of the first days training at Owenbeg and a few of them show Fats as a coach. Was that ever confirmed?

Edit: https://www.derrycityfc.net/staff-coaches/

He's a player co-ordinator

Had a look on Dundee Utd forums, fans are surprised they are letting Holt go.

It does look a bit as though we are continuing last year's approach of signing experience to win a league. I think they will have to hit the ground running early. I'd be worried about some of these players picking up injuries.

Unless McEleney, Patching and Kelly were on huge salaries, it's hard to see how the budget hasn't been increased again, particularly without European money. Perhaps there is a view that increased crowds with the new stand will mitigate that a bit.

Another difference maybe is that the brief is also to develop the academy more so that there may be more opportunities for young players to break through into the first team.

I think it's fairly obvious there is huge money being spent on this new management team, the backroom stuff, the signings/wages and Owenbeg.

I'd say this years budget must be a big increase over last season.

They had to be massive money spent. The money the new signings are on has to be a lot more than the ones that went out the door. Plus Boyce/Winchester/Thomas were still in contract hence a fee would've been needed.

I wasn't expecting a challenge this year but with the money been pumped in I think it could be on the agenda. Loads of experience being signed hopefully it might actually get us over the line- finally.

Some other fans in the league are lmt taking our signings seriously from what I've read. They think we are buying a load of old crocks.
