Im hearing from a friend that lives along the moor that at present the council only has the money to built a small stand roughly the same size as the glentoran stand with the remaining part getting built sometime time in the future, anybody know anything about this 'half a stand plan'

A while back this was discussed at a meeting of the Supporter's Association after the original designs were released back at the start of the 2014 season. At the time it was stated that the stand would be done in stages however talk of this has since quietened and I assume the plan is to complete the stand in its entirity. A discussion of this may be on the earlier pages of the thread if not it is in an older one.

The initial plan apparently was to build the small stand at first, with the remaining two wings being added whenever the money was available, but has it not been announced that all the money was now in place?

Well apparently the local residents were told at the most recent meeting that only the small stand will be built this year.

Just watched the Hamilton v Celtic game that was played on a plastic pitch. Please noooooo, don't inflict this on us Give it to one of the more deserving stadiums, Casement, Windsor or Kingspan. We want real football not "artificial" football. It isn't too late you know, we don't always have to settle for second best.

Stuff their penny pinching stand, just shows what they think of Mark Farren and the rest of the local footballing community.

So I think your Celtic Park idea is out of the question after GAA congress overwhelmingly voted against opening up grounds to other sports.

It wasn't even an idea, it never moved any where other than here.

As for the stand, it's to be done in its entirety, not bit part.

After looking at the plans in the Brandywell, it only shows the initial phase of the stand i.e. the small middle bit with a seating capacity of around 950. The two "wings" of the complete stand probably will not be started in our lifetime and in fact they are going to reuse and resite the existing portakabin Candy Stripe Store so what are the chances of the Mark Farren Stand ever being fully completed. I think nil.

When did you see the plans martin, thats what my friend who lives opposite the ground on the lone moor road was told at the residents meeting that only a small stand not much bigger than the glentoran stand will be built this year and the rest will only be built when further funding becomes available, ie never

If there is one thing you can say about Eddie Mahon it's his consistency about this city needing a ground worthy of the people who live here. The ground and where it should be is plain for everybody in the town to see except the council. They need votes to get on the council, a few thousand of them can persuade prospective Councillors to heed what we want not what they want. Eddie is not giving up, must be annoying to have a thorn like him popping up every so often.

A generation from now I believe that the recent decisions made regarding the stadium will be viewed as the biggest mistake in the history of the club and when you consider the competition that would be some achievement
