Dept of Communities expecting to be able to announce the first successful applicants by late summer.
37 applications from 38 clubs (there was 2 clubs submitted a joint application) & 1 application from a council in partnership with a performance club. No figures released on how much is needed to fund all applications

The money will be over-subscribed many times over. So it will be interesting to see not only who gets the cash - but also what they say about future money for everyone else.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 12:18 pm Dept of Communities expecting to be able to announce the first successful applicants by late summer.

Yeah I'd imagine it will be closer to £200m (if not more) than it will be to £100m to fund all projects. Interesting when asked about it the minister had the above info at hand but not the monetary figure of all projects or maybe he did but felt now is not the right time to release that.stevebradley wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 12:57 pmThe money will be over-subscribed many times over. In terms of the potential successful projects I've seen comments on social media over the last few months predicting an initial carve up between Derry City, Coleraine, Cliftonville & Glentoran - it will be interesting to see how accurate those predictions are. However if they are correct we shouldn't get excited too soon because we've seen in the past Crusaders don't take too kindly to being refused money, they've won a couple of court cases over the last 10yrs - first one was against the executive to prevent Derry City & Glentoran from getting the bulk of the money & the other was most recently against the British Govt for money from the levelling up fund. I'd imagine they'll do the same again

Agree, it would be hardly surprising if we got a small portion given this context.gary wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 2:53 pmWe can guess pretty clearly were we will be left on that liststevebradley wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 12:57 pmThe money will be over-subscribed many times over. However, S Barrett mentioned that the money would be used to upgrade the pitch, Southend Stand, floodlights, and extend the MF Stand. I doubt we will get such a share of the pot to do all of that.

It would have been far better to develop one proper stadium for both clubs, and separate training facilities.
Now we are applying on our own without the council or anyone else, and given how little the city gets as it is
Ill be dumbfounded if we get anything but peanuts, and these days SF and the SDLP might squeak a little, but they seem to do very little
to get Derry its share of anything.
But lets see come the end of the summer.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
We're not competing with Institute for money. Institute's application is less than £6m so they're applying in tier 2. Our application is £6m+ so we're applying to tier 3 & competing with the likes of Cliftonville, Crusaders, Glentoran, Coleraine. SDLP & SF have no say over who gets what, Govt officials from the Dept of Communities will be assessing the applicationsgary wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 4:23 pmUnfortunately Institute are applied separately competing with us for stadium money, attack!attack!attack wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 3:13 pm
