We've 2 home games in late February (Bohs and Waterford), followed by Galway on 7th March.adydcfc wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:48 pm New stand won't be ready expect club to make put statement out over weekend. Looking like end of Feb

Be a shame if the new stand isn't ready for the February games - especially Bohs, which would attract a great crowd. But won't be the end of the world if it isn't.
To be honest - If the buzz is gone just 1 or 2 weeks into the season, then we'll have bigger problems than just a new standKeyser Soze wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 8:28 pm There will be a major buzz around the start of the new season, and the new stand could have capitalised on this.
The fact it won't be ready is a major disappointment, especially if we have a bad start and the buzz fades before season tickets for it go on sale.
Can we not request the FAI to rearrange those two fixtures to 'away' for this series, and swap with the 2nd series back at the Brandywell?stevebradley wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 6:41 pmWe've 2 home games in late February (Bohs and Waterford), followed by Galway on 7th March.adydcfc wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:48 pm New stand won't be ready expect club to make put statement out over weekend. Someone mentioned Shamrock Rovers did this when their new stand was still under construction.

A full stadium will be some sight… 23rd May home to Rovers.stevebradley wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:09 pmLooks the business.brandyball wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:02 pm Fresh update

Definitely. Unless we get off to a bad start you'd expect that game to be a sellout.marcoloco wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:54 pmA full stadium will be some sight… 23rd May home to Rovers.stevebradley wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:09 pmLooks the business.brandyball wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:02 pm Fresh update

You'll have to leave just after kickoff if you want a bag of chips!stevebradley wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 5:19 pmDefinitely. Unless we get off to a bad start you'd expect that game to be a sellout.marcoloco wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:54 pmA full stadium will be some sight… 23rd May home to Rovers.
Hopefully we get a few other sellouts in the bag as well this year. Increased capacity will take a lot of pressure off for people to snap up tickets early, and Derry people love leaving things to the last minute. But a full stadium with that new stand open should make a huge difference to matchdays now.
Given that the club has submitted a business case would suggest that the money has already been released, its now down to Dept officials to decide on where that money goes & how muchrodgers wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:51 pm I don't have an awful lot of faith in the Executive releasing money for the remainder of the Mark Farren.
In the meantime, would there be any merit in getting the drawings and planning process started for any development for a Showgrounds end stand? At least then, any objections could be dealt with early on.
I can see that stand being completed before the Mark Farren.
The Stomont stadia money is definitely there, and has sat ring-fenced and unallocated for a decade now. The challenge is that they've had a hell of a lot of applications for what is a fairly small sum in comparison. £36m won't deliver much, compared to what it would've over a decade ago.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 1:40 pmGiven that the club has submitted a business case would suggest that the money has already been released, its now down to Dept officials to decide on where that money goes & how muchrodgers wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:51 pm I don't have an awful lot of faith in the Executive releasing money for the remainder of the Mark Farren.

I'm hopeful that we'll get something, but it may not be the full amount we need. I also wonder/worry if the new North Stand will work against us, as it undermines the argument that we are operating at full capacity so need the Stormont cash.
A guy on the Irish League Forum has said the Minister will aoparently be making an announceemnt on it all at the end of next week. Fongers crossed that we get some good news out of it.
