In fairness, they're going to be picking up the bill for maintaining it moving forwards - not the club. It's their stadium, so you need theor permission to do anything there anyway. And the council has precisely zero need themselves for that new stand.

Can we just bask in the fact that work has finally begun there without looking to have ann 'aul moan at someone about it all?

I'm sure that's what the club pays the licence fee for to be fair.

The whole thing is madness. We didn't do the necessary ground works for the two side extensions to the MF stand just to save a few quid. Now years later, the cost of getting all that equipment back on site to do the grounds works is massively inflated. Short sighed is not even an explanation for it. What would have cost a few hundred K back in 2016 will now be ££££££ more due to cost inflation.

Would it be too late to have a small scoreboard with the new stand? Potentially in the corner between the Southend and the new stand?

Taking the seats out of Blocks A & B in the Southend before they needed to be removed has turned out to be a bad idea, and will have cost the club about £25k so far

It’s a process. De-construction involves disconnecting power and services, removing the seats and roof, removing steel work etc then once everything is out you can commence demolitions of block work.

Ye can't rush these things.

I'm a big fan of grass pitches...

But interesting events in Cork where their stadium has been closed due to severe damage caused by heavy rain and recent fixtures.

No idea where or how they'll host further fixtures.

In our climate and at our level (semi-professional) is a grass pitch all it's cracked up to be?

Obviously the answer is yes but only if its maintained and not abused or over used.
