Its an article in support of Derry City, you could at least give it a wee bit of credit.

Have to agree, here is another example of the Sun doing out of their way to play it fair and advance Derry's cause.Keyser Soze wrote:Its an article in support of Derry City, you could at least give it a wee bit of credit.

The FAI/IFA bid seems to be pushed back to 2023 now when it is possible there will be 16 teams. Which would potentially require more venues.

Was it not always a 2023 bid though ?rodgers wrote:The FAI/IFA bid seems to be pushed back to 2023 now when it is possible there will be 16 teams. Which would potentially require more venues.

I think at the very beginning I saw references to both 2021 and 2023.

2021 was only rumoured before the initial announcement. Bid was always for 2023.

Sinn Fein have announced that they have met Patrick Nelson about this bid.
Article is pretty light on detail though.
Not sure what the council position is at the minute.

Raymond McCartney thought the new Brandywell was 'up to standard' and no work was needed and then Sinn Fein tried to play the 'Derry getting shafted' card and wanted to know why the Brandywell and the City was not considered.rodgers wrote:Sinn Fein have announced that they have met Patrick Nelson about this bid.

Embarrassing when it was clear to all 'football' people that the stadium is not up to standard despite recent investment.
Shows how much they know about football stadium/criteria needed for these kind of things, but we were also told that we have a 'world class facility'.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
This is great news.
However - Elisha was due to meet the IFA last month about this. The absence of any date in the press release for when that meeting took place, or any outcome from it, makes it feel like it's been rushed out to counter Sean Carr's motion to the council on Jim McLaughlin (call me cynical, but that's how politics works ! )
The council elections are in 3mths time. Expect more political football between now and then.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
Any idea why there's 4 flag poles behind the goal?
Do Institute use them during their games?
4 seems excessive to me but anyway here's some ideas for putting them to use...
1. DCFC
2. SSE Airtricity
3. Match Sponsor ??
4. FAI
5. City Cubs
6. DCFC Supporter Club

Thanks!
Would be nice to put them to use then.
Certainly would be nice to have a DCFC flag there on match days for starters...! Or would Council not allow that either??

It would be nice to be able to get a decent DCFC flag in general.marcoloco wrote:Thanks!

And whilst im at it... you'd think the PA system would at least be working in the Southend Stand. New season same old system. Council need to get their finger out!

All the complaints about buying tickets for the games, especially for away supporters have AGAIN fallen on deaf ears. No one in a position to do something about it seems to give a damn.marcoloco wrote:Exactly. That's what im getting at!
