The football has been brutal to watch for 2 years. Not just the end of the one past. Either you haven't been watching us, or don't want to admit it.
I don't want to go over the same old shit again. It's like fucking Groundhog Day in here.

Players should be thankful they don't have to deal with the fans in Italy.
There, they would have their cars stoned and had crowds coming to training to tell them to pull their socks up.

You just have to look at Patching's reaction in Dundalk, and how quick out the door Fats and Shane were, to see what they thought of it all.
Because football fans are different in the IPL?
They left because they got the best deal for them at another club. I think the move to IPL suits them both for different reasons.

Fats and Shane weren’t wanted, so what they thought of it all is pretty meaningless.

Not booing them off the pitch might be a start. I don't want to start a whole thing here, but the fans' reaction to our drop in form at the end was seen all around the country. Players know about that. The Virgin Media sports guy named that as one of his reasons at the time why we wouldn't win the title race ("the fans have turned"); the journalist who asked Tiernan Lynch what he thought of Derry having "10,000 managers". It'll be a job convincing some quality players to stay/come.
Mate it's hard to say this but you make me believe that you seek some sort of utopia, woke football.
You vehemently defended RH in light of horrific performances and now you don't believe fans should boo players when they play dire?
Any pundit here or across the water will always defend fans having their right to voice their objections to abject performances. Are you saying DCFC fans should pay their money and accept whatever is served up? Without any dissent?
Do you believe players don't accept that if they are shite, the fans shouldn't tell them that they are shite? If this is football, count me out.
I was embarrassed at what has been in the media from family members of former players and the former manager. People who had no objections to raise about fans voicing their opinions, for years, until it was their family members being made acutely aware that they were not meeting the expectations of those contributing to their wages.
There isn't ONE club, in the LOI, IL, across Europe or elsewhere that wouldn't expect fans to voice their opinions. Players get booed off for one reason and o e reason only...they have been awful.
Like I said, I don't want to pull this off topic; I replied to a comment about how we can make players feel more comfortable...this is all in the context of putting a squad together for 2025. But I'll answer your questions, as I think I have to defend myself here.
This has nothing to do with wokeness or wanting a lovey-dovey, tree-hugging experience at football games. So, relax Piers Morgan.
You vehemently defended RH in light of horrific performances...
I defended Higgins' tenure. I didn't think that the end part of one season should overwrite the success of the previous three years and I didn't think it should be a sackable offence.
and now you don't believe fans should boo players when they play dire?
I don't think there's a benefit to it, even more so going into the last few games of a potential double. I think at half-time against Sligo, if the crowd had stood, applauded and cheered the players into the tunnel, it would have had a better effect..not only on the second half but going into the next games too. Would you rather go into the break knowing that you have 3000+ people behind you, willing you on, or the knowledge that those people think you're shite and you can't turn this around?
Do you believe players don't accept that if they are shite, the fans shouldn't tell them that they are shite?
Do you think the players don't know that already? That any of them thought "Hey, the fans are booing, are we playing badly tonight, I thought we were great, no?". Do you think that's not the first thing the manager and Hegarty will tell them in the dressing room? Players need a kick up the hole from time to time and the coaches should give it. I think players will respond better knowing that they have the support and belief of the fans. Once the fans turn like ours did, the signal they're sending to the players is that it's done, we're not winning this. So if the fans don't believe, why should the players? Let the fans boo, but when it's done and dusted, not when we're still in with a chance. You just have to look at Patching's reaction in Dundalk, and how quick out the door Fats and Shane were, to see what they thought of it all.
...and I think all that will have a bearing on who stays, who goes and who comes in. But I hope I'm wrong.
This is a crazy defence. It's like Derrys fans are the only fans in the world to let their players know what they are serving up isn't acceptable.
Fans booing after the event is pointless. If you think the manager should be the one to give the players a boot up the hole at half time, and not the fans as they trudge off, then clearly Higgins and Hegarty didn't do that...bug then your excuse is they were ineffective because the players packed it in because the fans booed them.
If you want us to believe that's the calibre of players we had, and the ineffective management team we had, then there is no way the fans should shoulder the blame. The fans booed them off at Sligo...how much dirge did Higgins, Hegarty and the team serve up til that point?
The type of fans who sit patiently and silently are the type of fans who turn up when there is success to enjoy. Many seats sat empty in the Brandywell as performances got worse.
Those who still came were more than entitled to voice their opinions.

Tiernan Lynch " we're well aware of who's out of contract and how important they are".

Hopefully TL can persuade the likes of Maher and O'Reilly to give it one more year, if he sells them an idea that things will be better next season.
Some of the other clubs are wasting no time getting players resigned (Shels have more of less the starting 11 all in place for next season already), so any guys free to move in our squad might find they have nowhere to move to?

What Diallo's contractural position?
I personally have lost all confidence in him despite enjoying watching him in his first season - pulling out of tackles and giving the ball away too often he just looks like he's not prepared to go all in for the team. One of several I'd move on if we can.

He used to give away a lot of reckless frees in bad positions, and often got cards for ill timed tackles.
Do you think he's trying not to do this as much, and as a result he looks like he's pulling out of them and not making an effort?

He did foul often both inside and outside the box. But I notice this season he's just not committed. I think performances against Bohs (at home) when he turned away (rather than blocking) their player who hits a shot from 30 yards out was shocking. That's just one example but it was evident again during the cup final. When we look at this along with the fouls and penalties and giving the ball away in dangerous positions i've just lost confidence in him.

Maybe the new management team might improve him as a player. We can wait and see.
There's not many players in our squad who you could say improved as players under the old management team.

Like i say I enjoyed watching him in his first season but now lots of bad habits in his play. will take a big improvement on his part otherwise I think he could find himself out of the team.

Never to be seen again...?
One player that must be looking forward to a fresh start next season is Dan Kelly. Arrived with big reputation but just didnt settle on the park for some reason. Hopefully we can see the best of him next season.

Seen on twitter that Bohs are looking at him.
Also, if Lynch plays with wing backs would there even be a spot for him?

Depends how versatile he is I guess. Had a tough season and didnt really produce so hoping he can only get better.

He'll need more than just wing backs in the team!

Maybe moving towards a more youthful lineup. I personally will be sorry to see him leave.
