I still think the wall round the showgrounds dog track is too close...

Good pictures. We are going to have one of the weirdest grounds in the world. A dog track behind a net, an artifical pitch and a tiny new modern stand. A mish mash of last minute planning. We should have got so much better

What has been planned for the space behind the brandywell road side?
Is the pitch moved toward the wall or is that area being turned into a terracing?

Nothing behind both nets.

As others have posted, it's going to be so dis-jointed and potentially embarrassing when it's finished.

Well said andy couldn't agree more, if they ever finish both sides of this new stand then it wont look as weird but until then the place will be crazy looking.

It's not perfect but considering what was there before it is much less of an 'embarrassment'.

The 101m x 64m pitch dimensions is for the training pitch at the Showgrounds.

Looking at the plans there is no dimensions for the 3G pitch, but it is bigger than the showgrounds by a few meters. It will have to be 105m x 68m for Cat 3.

But we shouldn't have to make do with something sh!t in Derry, just because it's a bit less sh!t than what we had before.

Belfast wouldn't have to deal with that sort of treatment. And nor would they accept it.

Yeah, but Belfast would undoubtedly have set up a properly resourced/focused lobby group for this.

Though never mind a lobby group - responsibility re the stadium we're getting rests largely with the Board IMO. They set their sights very low from early on, let themselves be led by the nose to an even more basic solution, and have blanked any criticism ever since. The 'new' Brandywell will be a monument to a paucity of ambition.

The council are the owners who decide what amenity is fit for the general population here. If we were having the large crowds of yesteryear they would not be long in producing what was suitable to voters and lobbying the relevant funders to cough up. As the crowds dwindled the council put the brandywell on the pending list. Not enough voters put pressure on the photogenic councillors to make that difference.

Glens complained very recently that Stormont collapse has scuppered any money being allotted and this applies to us too

i think steve that if you ask the board, they'll say that they had the ambition but the problem was the money which was largely out of their hands. we can't expect phil to stump up the sort of money needed to build the finished article.

Without a dog track, they should chop the wings off the Southend Park Stand and use the seats for something directly behind the nets.

Just can't see the Southend Park Stand looking right with a scaled down pitch area in front of it.

That's exactly what i was thinking the wings of the southend park stand will look totally out of proportion compared to the rest of the ground so should be removed.

There is none of that ground that will look grand, and talking about lego sure its a lego size stand we are getting on the lone more road side.
