I wouldn't be surprised if Patrick McEleney re signed.
I don't think the current management team have the scouting network to know who anyone younger to sign in the LOI. They might sign from the IL.

How is he getting on at Ballymena? I will be honest, I forgot all about him.attack!attack!attack wrote: Mon Apr 14, 2025 11:51 am Having reflected on the performance of our CBs after 9 games, and who we have on the books; I think it was a foolish decision to let Duncan Idehen go on loan. I thought he was decent last season, and deserved a crack at it.

Idehan - very poor at Ballymena.
They will def not sign him and send him back to us.
I thought he looked okay for us, but have seen him for Ballymena a few times and he is well short.

That’s interesting. Ballymena got off to a flier at the start of the season, but have since taken a dip. A little like Aberdeen.joe3576 wrote: Mon Apr 14, 2025 4:44 pm Idehan - very poor at Ballymena.

In that case, he’s coming back after his loan.

Re: 2025 SQUAD
I still think its too early to make a call on the management or the players. There's been lots happening in a short period of time. However, what's clear is that not all is well and there's quite a bit of work to do.
Will TL make the necessary changes to his approach - is he big enough to sort out his dressing room, especially one that has 5 or 6 players on the wrong side of 30? That's lots of experienced players who probably don't want to be told what to do or to get the finger out.
We are also losing points due to ill discipline. I often feel were a bit erratic flying into tackles all over the place. Good to show hunger but it must be controlled. Maybe he's asking them to do it - play physical - but if thats the case it needs to be reined in as the stats don't lie.
So despite the slow start and disappointing performances its still all to play for. A top 4 finish will be the realistic expectation and possibly a good cup run. Anything less will leave many people asking serious questions.
Could definately do with some creativity back in the centre of the park but fats spent most of the last 3 years on the treatment table. So not sure what kind of deal would be needed.

Please no, we don't need a crocked Fats back.
Over his last contract with us, he was injured more than he was fit, and you could count the game changing moments from this supposed "game changer" on a couple of fingers.

Re: 2025 SQUAD
Doherty could be out for the long term due to a foot injury.
Surely we need to see Ferguson get a run in the side of he's fit.
Diallo has another 3-4 weeks, Dummigan 8 weeks away and Hoban nursing a hamstring.

Could do with Wisdom back to bolster the defence.

Georgie Kelly relegated to the National League with Carlisle. He’d be a fantastic signing.

With Will Patching, who hasn't featured for them since March 4th. There is a reason why I called him 'Foreskin'.

He hasn’t featured for us either in years. Ended up where he belongs.TenaciousDee wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:49 pm With Will Patching, who hasn't featured for them since March 4th. There is a reason why I called him 'Foreskin'.

Re: 2025 SQUAD
Last season's top goalscorer. I would like him back in the team accompanied by Mullen or Patton who can do the doggy work, Boyce hasn't impressed me (just my subjective opinion).
We need Hoban back. He knows the league & is a killer in front of goal, exactly what we need at the minute.

Re: 2025 SQUAD
Cork City have a 21 y/o Portuguese left back - Benny Couto. He has been very impressive, good going forward, athletic, can run, and has good end product.
He has the second most crosses in the league, albeit Cork have nobody in there to turn these into assists.
I know we are stocked in that area with B Doherty & S Ferguson - however, worth keeping an eye on, he'll get a move somewhere at the end of the season. With Ferguson only here for the season & B Doherty injury prone - he is a potential option.

I'd love to get Evan McLauglin back from Cork. Would add youth and creativity to our squad. Can see him moving on if Cork go down again.attack!attack!attack wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 11:02 am Cork City have a 21 y/o Portuguese left back - Benny Couto. Crazy some of the players we allowed to walk out the door.

Re: 2025 SQUAD
Brexit rules could make it difficult. I recall an interview with one of the board members, maybe Sean Barrett (?) who spoke about how Brexit and visa rules limited our market to Irish and UK players.attack!attack!attack wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 11:02 am Cork City have a 21 y/o Portuguese left back - Benny Couto.
