I doubt the council will be handing the stadium over without some sort of agreement re the costs and access rules for existing/longstanding users e.g. Stute, Foyle Cup, D&D. So I doubt there'll be much money to be made for the club out of this yet.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 10:58 pmWe don't own it yet but if (hopefully when) we get a lease we can sub-lease to other user groups & I would imagine that yes the money would come to us & not the councilmagspat wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:04 pm If DCFC own the stadium now do they charge other's for using it.

You make very little renting out an empty stadium, after costs.
You make a bit of money selling out a 7k stadium for friendlies... especially if you can add hospitality.
Need to compensate for the lack of European football this season so I wonder if any decent team is willing to risk their players on that pitch?

Yeah it seems that the club are aware of all this. In regards to Foyle Cup its currently used all day every day for mini-soccer & then one or two 11 v 11 games at night, if it does eventually become a hybrid pitch I wonder would the club be objecting to the mini-soccer & only agreeing to the 11 v 11 games during the week & all Saturday finalsstevebradley wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:18 amI doubt the council will be handing the stadium over without some sort of agreement re the costs and access rules for existing/longstanding users e.g. Stute, Foyle Cup, D&D. If we don't own it yet how are we going to get a share of the 36 million pounds pot ,was that not the reason we are getting it because the council would have to pay 40% of fund we get if they still owned it seems complicated sure the application for money would granted in the summer which is not far away not much time to decide who owns it.

We don't need the lease until stage 7 of the project which is the tender process. The club were able to go ahead & submit the bid because there was a commitment from the council to enter into a lease of more than 25yrs, there is a corporation act from 1918 that needs repealed before we can do that but for now all we needed was a commitment from council. The actual lease isn't needed just yetmagspat wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 6:31 pm If we don't own it yet how are we going to get a share of the 36 million pounds pot ,was that not the reason we are getting it because the council would have to pay 40% of fund we get if they still owned it seems complicated sure the application for money would granted in the summer which is not far away not much time to decide who owns it.

Bert Martin was on the podcast with Simon Collins & Kevy McLaughlin & said the new North Stand will be used as a seated stand with a capacity of 1,750. Why? If we can get 2.8k standing in it, surely that is the better option? ‘Safe standing terrace’ should be fully utilised, otherwise we’re leaving 1k tickets unsold (I know it’s presumptuous that we’ll sell that many, but for big games we will).

Is that for the test events (next three games) it will be seating only, or the foreseeable? I ask as I didn't hear.attack!attack!attack wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 12:31 am Bert Martin was on the podcast with Simon Collins & Kevy McLaughlin & said the new North Stand will be used as a seated stand with a capacity of 1,750. That didn't seem to be clarified at all by the interviewers. If the intention is to allocate a block to players/directors/sponsors plus transfer some existing tickets from the Southend, my guess would be that the new stand will be used as a seated stand for more than the next three games with a capacity of 1,750. Maybe for certain games, they will bring in the standing. Presumably for those games, some of the tickets like players and sponsors will have to be given a seat elsewhere.TenaciousDee wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:54 amIs that for the test events (next three games) it will be seating only, or the foreseeable? Maybe the club aren't confident of selling the additional 1k tickets or would prefer to make more from seats and related concession income.
I'd personally prefer standing as a whole for the stand. I think people sometimes overlook what a lot of fans might actually want from football grounds, particularly if it means higher ticket prices. For example, I would say most away fans prefer the away section at Dalymount over Tallaght.

I don't think people appreciate how tight and uncomfortable the standing option is. To get the numbers up the space requirements are an absolute minimum allowed. I'd think that grand for the occasional big game when there's high demand but i don't think it's necessary for regular games.rodgers wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 9:17 amThat didn't seem to be clarified at all by the interviewers. Sorry to burst some people's bubble here, but the truth is that the majority of potential new fans buying a ticket for the North Stand will want to sit down.
I can see many new fans bringing families, young kids etc. Standing for the guts of 2hrs isn't on their want list.
I think having it as an all seater stand for now is the right idea. I don't think we need the extra capacity that standing affords. We will do well to sell it out as all seated. And the novelty might wear off some of those who start to come to games if the entertainment levels and results don't improve.

Each to their own. In time, hopefully an expanded Mark Farren cater for those sorts of fans. I think the rise of safe standing would suggest that at least some types of fan prefer standing to sitting. It'd be great if all could be accommodated.

I, like many others, agree with you. The main appeal for supporters was having a decent standing view without obstructions. Regarding your point about confidence in selling out at standing capacity, I’ve had this discussion with others. Some believe that with a full 7,500 capacity, we’d struggle to sell out, with clusters of empty seats in the Southend stand as people migrate to the North Stand. I don’t share that view. Ultimately, it depends on league form—if we’re challenging, the bandwagon effect will help fill the ground. When we reach European competition, the stadium with seating in place will sell out. If demand on Thursday night for games remains high, the seats could be folded away, and the remaining tickets released online. I do think we need a more pragmatic approach to create an environment that generates positive feedback—once people experience the atmosphere of a terrace, they’ll rave about it, and word of mouth will bring even more fans.

Families will likely take the vacated spots from those who will leave the Southend Stand to go to the North Stand.Keyser Soze wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 9:50 am Sorry to burst some people's bubble here, but the truth is that the majority of potential new fans buying a ticket for the North Stand will want to sit down.

Lots of people also forgetting that Away Teams are also bringing many more fans. Even more so now that the stadium is improving. So if we are competing against a top 4 team you can be assured that they'll bring with them big numbers that would take most of their allocation.TenaciousDee wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 9:56 amI, like many others, agree with you. Good point Marco. Rovers would come in numbers, Sligo, Bohs and now $hel$ and Pat's. Plenty of revenue to be made.

I suspect the name wont be long sticking when people realise that it derives from Britain's military history. You may as well call it the Waterloo stand
