They've had individual training plans since start of December and I've seen them all in regular attendance at a local gym.

I have a good friend who is a Balymena supporter told me at Christmas time Whyte was training with them.

Jim Ervin also denied that this week. Be interesting to see where he ends up & see who played the best poker face

A couple of twitter/X accounts saying that Whyte has signed too. Derry journal article also hinting at it.

https://www.derryjournal.com/sport/foot ... 1736454683

Article also states that there are several trialists training with the team.

He called Shane Ferguson's signing well before it was announced too. So I'd say a bit more than a pinch of salt.

If you are free tomorrow I'd say you'd likely seem them in Ballybofey, they go by the names

Trialist A
Trialist B
Trialist C

Will that game even go ahead?

I'm sure that pitch has been frozen solid this last 4 or 5 days. The thaw is meant to be slow over the weekend, can't see it happening at lunchtime tomorrow tbh.

A fairly reliable account on twitter says we're close to signing Robbie Benson

Let’s hear all the boys who couldn’t wait to get Higgins out talk about these signings,
If rumors are true Robbie benson well passed it 32/33 years of age serious injury last year. Liam Boyce two serious injuries will be 34 at start of season, Shane Ferguson signed off the sofa hasn’t kicked a ball since last may was on the verge of retirement.. footballs a funny old game be careful what you wish for comes to mind.

I heard his name mentioned too. It seems to me that the plan is to try to keep the momentum up from last year and challenge again. Instead of taking 2-3 years to rebuild and bring players through. Sort of making this the fourth year of a push for the title instead of the first year of another 3 year cycle. Lynch can then work in the background on the underage structures and hopefully bring players through as these 30+ year old signings are finishing up.

Boyce, Ferguson & Benson have great pedigree, it's just about them staying fit. It's also not true that every player over 30 is finished. The average age of that Rovers squad from last season and oveer the past few seasons was quite high as well. The biggest issue we will have with the lads over 30 is our f***ing pitch........

Maybe let's see how they get on before throwing the toys out of the pram, without a ball being kicked. I don't really care about previous age, location. Nationality, injury history. I'll judge them on their time at Derry just like i did with Higgins signings.

I'd imagine they have to pass a medical before we sign them.

You're obviously a fan boy of our previous manager, but I think it's time to move on.

And don't worry, if we end up playing the same muck football that helps empty the Brandywell and throw away our best chance of the league title in a generation, I'm sure Lynch and the management team will get the deserved flak.
