We need to be realistic. There's 4 Dublin clubs ahead of us in the que for any decent players. I think we'll see a few NI based players step across and try their luck with us this season. Would be nice to attract some former players back too as that may be the only way to add quality to the squad.

Maher training with hibs and O'Reilly Leyton Orient apparently. We are probably their fall back - McGinty would be a great signing of we went for him although meant to be rovers bound

Expect those two to explore all their options and offers before committing to us. There'll come a time when we need to set a deadline to enable us to move on with or without them.

Call me harsh but if maher and o reilly are away at trials for other clubs then let them go. If Derry are your back up plan then I don't want them. Don't want to sign players who are only signing because they have nowhere else to go. Maybe I'm just naive 🤔

We've got a really good core of players in doherty, connelly, Boyce, duffy, mullen and hoban. Let's build a team around them.

Both out of contract, both very consistent performers, both young and therefore exploring potential career options. If either get a move to the respective clubs mentioned it would represent a big step up in their careers surrounded by players and coaches playing at a higher level, with better pay and a chance to make it at a more professional set up. Any player not willing to explore that opportunity I would have my doubts over. if they choose to play for us (due to lack of offers across the water) then I’d say we’re very lucky indeed. But I’m not expecting to see them back if I’m being honest. I think lack of Europe this season has hobbled us.

If true, that's first class.

Hoban is getting on a bit and is maybe not as mobile these days and must be on a big salary.

Still brings lots of experience, is a proven goalscorer so im happy to see him stay (or leave if that's what they decide).

This 100%.

The reality is that 99.99% of footballers are playing where they currently are because they couldn't get a better offer. Footballers have a short career - often made shorter by injury - and naturally want to make the most of themselves that they can. That will obviously mean climbing as far up the footballing tree as they can manage, and as early as they can. They don't owe anyone or any club a favour, and it's naive to expect otherwise.

Serious question, where did you hear all this?
Is it just rumours ?

As for Hoban, I think we didn't see the best of him this season as our style of football didn't suit him. He got so little supply. If it's true that TL doesn't want him, then he must be banking on getting Gavin Whyte.

Teams that win leagues usually have one solid goalscorer, but then also gets lots of others from elsewhere on the pitch. Especially via free-kicks.

We can't be reliant on just one person to bag most of our goals. The problem we had this year was that if Hoban wasn't scoring, then you were left wondering half the time who else would.

Is Danny Mullin still under contract ?

I think Mullen singed a 1 yr extension not too long ago

Paul McMullan is in some of the videos with our Teenage Kicks partnership with Ardnashee sporing the new jeersey. I assume he has resigned :o

Am awful resigning imo. His inability to make a 3 yard pass or beat a man is astounding but sure he works hard.

If tiernan lynch lets hoban go he's of to a bad start. Joint top scorer last season in a very poor team. As for mcmullen, what did he have on Higgins. Something like 60 consecutive starts, can't pass or shoot to save his life. Work rate only gets you so far when you can't do anything else.
