The rumour mill

Post by Greengo »

Over Saturday and Sunday I never heard so many people/fans/supporters say "I HEARD" as many times in my life... The rumour mill in Derry has gone into overdrive...

I heard he signed a new contract
I heard hes away if we lose tomorrow/today
I heard hes not going anywhere
I heard (insert players name here) is on 3 grand a week
I heard hes given up and doesnt give a fuck anymore
I heard our wages are higher than Rovers
I heard he was going to be SK's number 2 at St. Pats
I heard (insert players name here) has already signed for (insert team name here)
I heard (insert players name here) wants more money before he agrees a new contract

I know everyone is hurting after that display yesterday but we have no LOI football now until at least February 2025... The rumour mill will trundle on until then...

Dont believe everything you hear...

I heard of someone saw we were in the running for the title. Complete horseshit.

Yeah, I think that's old news.

Will be a good move for RH working under SK again.

Sightings of John O'Shea today, even though he is with the Ireland squad in England, plus the photo taken that's being passed around was first posted on Social Media in July.

I'd expect to see RH working again in the NIFL once some manager gets the boot.

Fella I recognise from Rosemount (possibly one of the Malarkey's) took a selfie in Ebrington with John O'Shea when he was in town during the Foyle Cup in the summer. Someone has circulated it as if it was taken today as a take the hand and I received it this morning in a group chat. Fella who sent it is incredibly gullible and he wrote under it "he was also spotted in Da Vinci's". We have since convinced him Big Dunc Ferguson was walking around the walls earlier.

The Derry City rumour mill has been in overdrive since the cup final, reaching "Button Moon" levels of absurdity. The latest? Word on the street is that Iain Dowie is set to become our assistant manager. At this rate, we’ll be hearing that David Beckham’s applying for the kitman job next week.

I read somewhere that Lynch used Dowie as a contact for recruitment at Larne. I'd guess someone else has saw the same article & put their own spin on it

Larne announcing the departure of Andy Mitchell to take up a senior coaching role elsewhere presumably us according to reports. Also a restructure of their club after they became aware that Nathan Rooney doesn't possess the UEFA Pro Licence & unlikely to be able to enrol on a course anytime soon; Gary Haveron has now been installed as Head coach whilst Rooney is Head of Football operations - Tiernan Lynch combined both roles whilst he was there

Did Rooney not need that licence during the summer when we played Magpies under him?

He would've yes, not sure how UEFA didn't pick up on it at the time but they did pick up on it this time, unless they gave special dispensation to managers of clubs in smaller nations which I doubt very much.

I have seen people saying its not needed for the qualifying rounds but it is for the group stages which is also incorrect because Stephen Baxter delayed his departure from Crusaders until after their European games because his replacement Declan Caddell didn't have the Pro Licence. I'd assume UEFA will be doing some sort of investigating to find out why this was missed & probably hit Magpies with a fine, Dundalk were fined €50k a few years ago for Giovagnoli "shadow coaching" when he was banned from the touchline
