Galway United v Derry City Match Thread

Post by TenaciousDee »

Last week's win at Waterford gave Derry City their second consecutive win in the league, the last time they won consecutive league games was last September (Away wins v Dundalk and UCD). Galway played Rovers last Friday and could've/should've achieved more than one point at Tallaght. Top half teams (other than Bohs) have struggled in Eamonn Dacey Park, including Shels who lost there two weeks ago.

Derry are likely to be without Dummigan, Fats, Diallo and Whelan (definitely out) again with Harkin still on the road to making his first start in the league. Galway have a few long term injuries such as Buckley and Horgan.

All match predictions, reactions and news please post here. If you can't make the match it will be live on LOITV, BBC Radio Foyle and Drive 105.

Another tough one. Galway are as tight as they come. Hope we stay in attack mode if Hoban and Mullen fit. Looking forward to a good night in Galway. The bounce goes on….1-0 City….RAWA

Mediocre again, but we’ll hear it’s a good away point and we’re only a few points off top. Coaching staff and players getting away with murder as no one in the league is at the races, so we’ll settle for being poor ourselves. We are miles off it. Averaging well under 2 points per game is nowhere near good enough

Poor game, created very little. The leagues a very poor standard this year. Rovers dropping points all over the place and we never take advantage.

Prep yourself for Monday night, can't see it being a classic.

Especially as both managers would be happy with a point each now.

Not a great game. Second half better without creating much.

Bench not used much and not sure how it can be freshened up for Monday.

Galway worked hard, four points against Derry now, think they will stay up.

Of course they will stay up. We seen their effect last night and last month. They are a tight outfit that give very little away. Dundalk and Drogheda will be fighting it out to stay up this year and hoping Waterford slip up.

Monday night will be another drab 0-0... We cant capitalise or finish when it matters, hence we wont be winning it this season either unless we pull our socks up, take the game by the scruff of the neck and bury our chances... Possession doesnt always win matches sadly...

Not much easier watching. Galway are brutal. We had 3 good efforts in the last 15. Ben Doherty’s effort. Patton pulled a good chance wide and Patching hit the bar. Don’t think we have carried much luck recently. Squad is really stretched now and some big ones on the way. Let’s see what Monday brings……

Standard wise there's little between the teams right across the league. Makes the league interesting for everyone but there's not too much quality on display from any team. Will need a big improvement come June when the European competitions start.
