Derry City v Shamrock Rovers Match Thread

Post by TenaciousDee »

Big game at home this week. Tickets at outlets, to my knowledge, were sold out instantly on Saturday so it is expected to be a sell out. This will possibly be the lowest attendance by Rovers fans in recent history which I find very strange. Team news having looked over the Rovers teams last night they have been without Farrugia, Byrne, S. Kavanagh and McEneff for most of the season, if not all. Lee Grace has struggled with injury, Rory Gaffney has missed the last two at least and Trevor Clarke has been injured too, yet they have played well (outside of the Pat's game) in the last five.

No team news out of Derry yet but if you hear anything, have any predications and wish to react to the game and/or build up, post away. If you can't make it to the match then it is live on RTE2, BBC Radio Foyle and Drive 105.

Not a ‘must win’ for me but a ‘must not lose’. Think we are due a big performance. Shams have already lost twice on the road and are generally vulnerable away from Tallagh. They like us have a number of high profile injuries (though no plastic pitch to blame). If we can keep concentration at the back then I think the points are there for us.

Derry by the odd goal for me……

With Roverd only 1 point behind and with a game in hand 3 points is vital I.M.O

This double fixture weekend could have a huge bearing on the narrative. Anything less than 4 points will feel like a disappointing return however it feels entirely realistic.

Should we pick 2 or less, the calls for 'Higgins out' will only grow louder.

Rovers are clearly the best team in the league again in my eyes. Given that they have a number of injuries we might have a chance. We'll most likely play on the counter as Rovers will probably dominate the ball.

Most likely a draw or Rovers win unfortunately

On Drive 105's Match Night Live tomorrow evening be sure to tune in your car radio or mobile phone for our coverage whether you are listening on the drive to and from the ground or at home for the full 3 hours. My co-hosts will be Stephen McClelland and Eddie Seydak. Pre-Match Packie Cooke speaks to the manager, Lawrence Moore interviews the centurion Will Patching and I chat Shamrock Rovers with LOI Broadcast Legend, Con Murphy. I also speak to Mark McCrystal about his role as the Pathways Development Manager.

Same squad as against Drogheda plus one. Higgins was coy on who the plus 1 would be. Maybe Dummigan who'd been close recently.

Could be Hoban. Higgins said Hoban did some training this week and they would make a call closer to the time.

Going into this one with no bench. A half fit Hoban and an underwhelming Kelly. Won't be able to change things.

Not feeling optimistic at all

The reverse of last week where P McEleney was deemed fit enough for the bench.

Not confident but hoping for a good performance and a win.
