Shouldn't slag Brandywell again after seeing Thon pitch.

Sorta stop playing after we scored although o Neill should have scored to make it 2-0. Any win will do though.

Shels missed a very good chance too, could be 1-1 or 2-1Paddydcfc2010 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:48 pm Sorta stop playing after we scored although o Neill should have scored to make it 2-0. Any win will do though.

Made hard work of it against 10 men, vital 3 points with Rovers getting their act together.

Good win but that was poor viewing. Second half you would have thought we were the team with ten men. Diallo, patching and mceleney in midfield just doesn't work.

Re: $h€l$ vs Derry City Match Thread
Barring the cup final, Shels gave us a tough game every time we met them last season, and so it was again tonight.
We could have had a couple in the 1st half, and played well. But we were poor in the 2nd , conceding a lot of space and possession to Shels. And going a man up didn't help us at all, Shels were still the better team.
It's worrying that once we get the goal lead we often seem happy to sit on it, and stop playing. It caught us out at Pats in the 1st game.
McEneff should be starting, too good to be sitting on the bench. Once we have a fully fit squad, we need to get a functioning midfield sorted. As mentioned above, don't think our current 3 is working as a unit.

Btw. Much is being made in LOI about soaring attendances etc. but we MUST to night ALL of us esp Derry City club lambast the conditions that the Derry fans had to endure It was horrific. Asking to me moved into the empty stand beside to get out of torrential rain was totally rejected BUT. not by Gardai who were v v sympathetic There must be an out roar about this NOW. 3RD WORLD WOULDNT BE IN IT shame on you Shels

Great 3 points but little else to take from a game where we played 10 men for most of the 2nd half. We were asking for bother playing the ball back and sideways in our own half and nearly got caught when our defenders lost their footing . The midfield of Patching, Diallo and Fats lacks energy and drive, can’t understand Mc Eneff being a sub when Patching continues to play well within himself. Anyway enough moaning and happy to get the win.

Re: $h€l$ vs Derry City Match Thread
The weather ruined the game. In the first half I thought it was entertaining but was becoming nerve racking because City started to relieve the pressure they applied in the earlier stages. Both teams had chances but the finishing was appalling. In the second half the pitch had no bounce and the ball slowed down on the deck. Half joking, I would say that rain would have been perfect for our pitch.
Duff's post match comments will certainly be replayed and posted over the weekend regarding the officials in the league. This season so far the average for cards presented in the league per game is high and some refs are refusing in some incidents to let play go on. $h£l$ fans are online implying that the ref was against them, but I think McLaughlin made poor calls for and against both teams. In saying that, as valid as Duff's claims may be, he made a mouth of himself of claiming that a Derry coach influenced the ref in the tunnel at half time. Tony O'Donoghue never challenged him on that but these claims are dangerous to the game regardless of your emotions behind saying it. If you think the officiating is poor, grand think that. Stating that a coach is influencing decision making or making the ref award decisions in their favour comes across as petty and playing the victim.

That pitch is really holding Shels back. Think what they could do with a decent all weather pitch. It was a bog. Fair to say that was not a good spectacle for broadcasting Irish football to a wider audience. There's only a handful of venues that have the minimum acceptable level both in terms of pitch condition and fan facilities. Disgraceful that in 2023 we're asking fans to stand in the pissing rain to watch a match then get on a coach / car and drive home for 4 hours. Absolute full credit to all those derry fans. Hard fought win on the night but oNeil missed a sitter that would have made it more comfortable. That's the type of nights that can help you win league titles.
And did anyone else find the lack of contrast between our orange rig and their red rig a bit annoying? Quite similar colours especially on a wet night with low visibility.

Of course its poor. It was only last week we had a goal ruled out for no reason. He's stating the bloody obvious. As for his other comment. Just a sore loser.TenaciousDee wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 12:07 am The weather ruined the game.
