New Signing - Ryan Graydon

Post by davybhoy »

Welcome Ryan Graydon! ✍️🔴⚪️

Derry City FC is delighted to announce the signing of winger Ryan Graydon who has joined the club from Longford Town.

The 23-year old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal following spells with the Midlanders as well as Bohemians and Bray Wanderers.

Manager Ruaidhrí Higgins was delighted to get the deal over the line this weekend and said he was looking forward to working with the new man.

“Ryan is an exciting player and at 23 has the potential to make a real impact at the club.”

“He will freshen things up for us and will add to our threat going forward.”

“His style of play will give us another dimension and we look forward to helping him develop further as a player.”

“I would like to thank Gary Cronin and Longford Town who were a pleasure to deal with during this process.”

The player himself said he couldn’t wait to get started and was looking forward to the fresh challenge.

“I played at the Brandywell before with Bohs and I know how passionate the Derry support is.”

“I’m an attacking player by nature and I want to show the fans what I can do.”

“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m delighted to sign a long term contract.”

“I want to be part of what Ruaidhri is building here.”

Don't know much about him but we need more creativity for the strikers to feed off so hopefully he does us a turn.

Looks to play mainly on the right side but can play left too. Don't know anything about him but a right winger is something we've lacked in the squad. Adds a different option at least

Hope he can deliver crosses as good as young Porter.

Looks very direct which is what we have been missing.

Have we ever signed a player from Longford before? Can't think of anyone off top of head.

Did we not get Daisy Brennan direct from them?

EDIT: I think he may have went to Longford after now I think of it. Thomas Crawley was the last direct transfer from Longford to Derry

Was there a fee involved?

I see he was at Bohs previously. Presumably moved to Longford for more game time or he was released?

I saw somewhere we paid €40k, surely that's wrong

Also seen 40k mentioned on Twitter.
That's a lot of money, risky.

Are we desperate for players?

Perhaps we are spending the money that might be coming in for Toal from Bolton?

40k for a First Division player who was more than likely just on a one-year deal there (and therefore only had six months left to run), seems very unlikely.
