The loss of Jackie is a blow. Since Higgins came in he has been a constant and has given some outstanding performances in the role he was given. I wish him the best with his recovery.

But we have had Fats on the pitch for an hour, both Boyce and Smyth on the pitch and Micky Duffy another week closer. Fats gave us a glimpse of what we have been missing on Monday. Despite the result of the Sligo game there were real signs of the quality of football we are going to be playing.

Optimistic about 3 points from the Shels game and think we have to get at them early.

Jackie will be a loss although I was impressed with Dummigan when he moved into the midfield to accomodate Boyce's role at RB

The 1st half performance against Rovers and first 35 minutes against Sligo should give us confidence in what is to come. Hopefully we can begin to extend that tonight v "Damien Duffs's Shelbourne". I haven't seen anything of them apart from highlight v St Pats and I think they were hard done by with that final result.

Expecting a tough game but we should have enough to win.

Listening to James Keddy on Radio Foyle, thought he was a bit critical of Maher. Keddy reckons he was at fault for goals against Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers.

Thinks he has plenty of potential but he would have signed are experienced keeper.

LOI need to pay up for Dee as these commentators are shite.

It wasn't a great game but Derry looked comfortable enough for most of it. They found it hard to create chances though, Shels worked a lot. Pitch not great.

Thought Smith did very well for the goal and Dummigan was man of the match.

Thought Shels player on left was good but Boyce finished the game strongly.

Still playing with no urgency or tempo which is needed to break teams down who put a lot of players behind the ball such as Shels and Sligo.

Our play against these teams is very limited at the moment with a lot of possession in our own half but as soon as we get into opponent's half of the pitch we are very poor in trying to build any patterns of play and often resort to speculative balls into channels or lump it to McGonigle.

Against more attacking teams, we will get more space to play and counter teams but hoping Ruaidhri can get the team to play better against more defensive teams.

It's made how much better Derrys is because of the drive105 experience.

To think a lot of clubs don't even have drive for years.
