Should a lot of the stuff in this thread be in the Rumour Section?

Out of interest, how is greyhound track and the pitch at the Showgrounds coming along?

Who laid the pitch, was it the main contractor or specialist?

Because it is of doubtful and uncertain truth and unconfirmed. If it’s not confirmed it’s a rumour!adydcfc wrote:Why?mokendismucker wrote:Should a lot of the stuff in this thread be in the Rumour Section?

So if the Council had gone with grass, the pitch would be ready now.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
Only bit of pitch not laid yet is a strip along the front wall of Southend stand [old dog track]and as they are painting this stand it is probably to allow access for cherry pickers etc. Even the halfway line is marked. Also the seats in new stand seemed to be finished as are steps etc. So its almost there

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
This all sounds very promising. Someone told me yesterday we wouldn't be in the Brandywell until March but the info above makes me think we might play Sligo in the Brandywell on 23rd.

Any confirmation for when the development will be complete and when we will play our first competitive match in the Brandywell ?

Sorry I thought Showgrounds was fully dug up as well. But think that might be wrong. Still at nearly 16 months out of action, I would have thought someone could have made a decent stab out of it.
I appreciate that artificial pitches can generally be put down in shorter times. In fact, I remember reading one time line that said only 3 months would be needed for the new artificial pitch.

Re: Brandywell Stadium Development
I submitted an FOI enquiry to the Council after that article appeared in Derry Now last month saying that the pitch needed a period of 3-6 weeks of dry weather to be installed, and just got the response back this morning.
The Council are basically saying that Derry News/Derry Now made that up
More importantly, they're saying "The stadium will be available for public use by Mid-March". By my reckoning, that means for the Limerick and/or Bray game ?
They've explained the delays as "The causes of the delay have not been determined contractually yet but issues that are pertinent to these ongoing discussions include the exceptionally wet weather over the autumn, discovery of some historic buried contaminated ground on site and the ordering of specialist glazing units".
All from the horse's mouth.

Fairly disappointing that it has to go as far as a fan having to submit a FOI request to get some clarity on this
I'd get that out as wide as possible as with less than 3 weeks to the first game, fans have to make plans.

It's a joke that this information has come from a fan! You can only imagine the club would have had an idea, given that the season is a matter of days away, so between them and the council a statement should have been released!

Don't be so sure, daniel.daniel wrote:It's a joke that this information has come from a fan! You can only imagine the club would have had an idea, given that the season is a matter of days away, so between them and the council a statement should have been released!
The Council didn't tell the ratepayers or the media any of this so there is no reason to think they told the club.
