We werr told last night that the Glentoran stand will be closed to all at the next fixture and the media will be positioned in section D in the area closed off last night. As for it being knocked down I heard that won't happen until the end of the year at least. Not sure if there is any truth in it.

why should we believe anything the club says? We've all heard this one before. We ARE a joke and you lot are the only ones who cant see it Can anyone at the club do the fans a courtesy and let us know does this upcoming development simply mean a stand is getting bulldozed. Is anything getting built soon or will the ground me in an even worse state next season?

Having spoken to a local representative from Council this morning this is where we are at regarding the redevelopment. It has been DELAYED until at least mid August or early September the reason being are as follows:

- the redevelopment still hasn't passed planning yet, they are awaiting a Green certificate, the whole plan had to be scrutinised after the Casement Park fiasco.

- The letter for offer has been delayed to finance the stadium, at present it is with the procurement office of OFDFM and assurances have been given that it WILL BE PASSED

- the tender will be allocated once the first 2 options have been concluded and this will take up to 5 weeks

- The most worrying issue is that there is STILL NO resolution with the doggy men and this is essential to the plans going ahead. Talks are on-going but if no agreement is met they can take legal action which could delay the process by a few years!

I predicted earlier in the year that nothing would happen at the end of May. I now predict nothing will happen before the end of 2015.

I'm on the verge of giving up caring if we ever start a new stadium.

When Dublin City Council take over ownership of Dalymount looks like they might put in a plastic pitch too but not certain:

Plastic pitches are probably desirable from local authority point of view as it makes them easier to grant funding for (which is probably why we have to get one too) but wonder just how economically beneficial they are after that.

Plastic pitches are usually very economically beneficial for whoever gets the revenue from them.

You can hire them out 24/7 all year round if you want, and most towns seem to have a shortage of astro versus demand. You can also have all parts of a club playing on the one pitch as well, which for some may save on pitch rental fees elsewhere.

I assume that under the new Brandywell it's the council who'll get the revenue from astro pitch hire, and not the club ? If so, another reason to get away from the place.

Would imagine that will be the case alright since Derry would simply be tenants and would pay for the ground for a certain number of matchdays per year.

Have a feeling that the pitches aren't as lucrative as some people (probably the people who want to sell them to clubs) claim them to be:

Simon Barker, assistant chief executive of the PFA, said: "From the players' point of view they just want the best surface available to them.

"Some of the reasons why clubs wanted [plastic pitches] wasn't about the quality, it was about the extra income they could bring into the club by leasing it out.

"Most of the people we were speaking to, the figures being quoted [for extra income] were totally inflated. That was the issue regarding ourselves [as well as] the health and safety issues."

Add in the costs of installing and maintaining (which seem to be just as high if not more than grass despite claims that they are actually cheaper to maintain than grass).

Still don't understand why it can't be the Showgrounds that's made plastic.
