Sorry to change the subject but things dire at present.

Good to see Curtis firing Portsmouth to the top of the table with another goal today. Anyone know if the deal was weighted in our favour with add ons based on promotion / sell on etc?

Just interested.

He done brilliantly today- 2 goals and an assist which gives him 5 this season already.

Hopefully we have a sell on clause baked into the deal

Indeed. He's flying.

And scoring for fun. His record with us was not as impressive.

Maybe they have a style of play that suits him better...

He played more on the wing for us but seems to be playing in the centre now

Sometimes players are used to fit the system that managers want to play rather than being able to construct a team that gets the best out of the players who can really enjoy expressing themselves but these are rare utopian management styles.

Another goal tonight for the U21s. Fair play he's taking his chance.

Does Derry city benefit financially if Ronan appears or scores for Ireland .

FFS.

Who does our negotiating when we are selling players?

It is understood the deal agreed with Derry City over the forward’s transfer does not contain a clause for further payment in recognition of international honours.

Considering the lad was already an U21 international, there was a decent chance he'd get capped at senior level too.

I bet you there is no sell-on clause either, we'd be that dumb.

We got a paltry £100k for Curtis - which I can almost understand as he was approaching the end of his contract.
However not to stipulate a clause for international recognition is unacceptable.

I'd have put a lot of fee stipulations in the contract including:
Debut appearance
50 appearances
100 appearances
10 goal
25 goals
50 goals
100 goals
International appearance
sell-on clause

All of the above clauses could easily have been agreed as Portsmouth would have been directly benefiting if he achieved the stipulations.
I would be surprised if we had any clauses whatsoever in the contract.

Who does our negotiating?

Sean Barrett has confirmed there is a sell on clause including international appearances.

Piece in the Guardian website today about Portsmouth with a bit about Curtis:

Quote:
Of all of their investments, the £100,000 they paid Derry City for Ronan Curtis in May looks increasingly ingenious. The additions of Lee Brown and Nathan Thompson were smart but the Croydon-born winger, who moved to Ireland at the age of eight, lit up the league on arrival. He has scored six goals and set up five others, earning him a call-up to Martin O’Neill’s senior squad in September. “It’s been a great year,” says Curtis, whose godfather is the former Wales manager, Chris Coleman.

In five years at Derry the 22-year-old made a lasting impression and scored in the Europa League against Midtjylland. Curtis also played with Patrick McClean, the younger brother of the Stoke forward, James, who, along with the Everton defender Seamus Coleman, helped him settle at international level. For his club Curtis has gone from playing in front of 2,000 to almost 20,000. “It’s just a different kettle of fish over here in England, a different type of professional set-up. Your washing gets done for you, there’s lunch, dinner for you and all those little things. You don’t have to clean your own boots and stuff like that.”

Maybe if we had made him his dinner, he might have stayed.
